Elle: I would love to give this book 5 stars but the typos really annoyed me. Other than that, it was a pleasant book and my daughter loves hearing the stories of how great scientists lived their childhood. At times it feels very America-centric, but I applaude the concept.

gel: Awesome books for my 8 and 10 year olds! They read them over and over again. They give you tidbits and facts about each person that you might not learn if you just looked them up online. We also read the Kid Artists and Kid Athletes books. All great books

reviewer: Engaging stores that show scientists as relatable “just like me” people, including many instances where the scientist overcame adversity or failure, being an outcast etc. For that reason it is a good read. Rosalyn Franlkin’s bio had an error: it said she didn’t get the Nobel bc she was a woman and that completely is false. She was dead when the Nobel was awarded and it isn’t given posthumously. I’m not minimizing the bias and struggles she faced but that one big detail is incorrect. Made me wonder what else is Incorrect. Still if you can live with issues like that it makes for nice interesting and inspiring stories for the kids and they won’t know the difference if a few details are off, the overall gist of the story remains and you can always “correct” any issues.

kiki: Inspiring book for a child to read, as all stories are written from a perspective of an amazing child who grew up to be even more amazing scientist. Hence, the book is very relatable for children & it makes science fun & exciting. My 7-year old daughter is obsessed with it. She loves taking notes about scientists in the book & she keeps coming back to this book & rereading it. Money well spent

Book Worm: My 5th grade science lover absolutely inhaled this book. She loved reading about each famous scientist and telling me all about the fun stories and cute pictures. I've also noticed her trying to emulate some of the qualities she admired in the people discussed here.
There is a a lot of diversity among the scientists-- In area of study, time period, and ethnic background. Probably an equal number of men and women and the women are celebrated for real discoveries, not simply for being "the first woman to...." (A pet peave of mine in most books of this type)
There is a lot of discussion of the challenges the people had to go through. Areas they struggled with in school, special needs, personality quirks, etc.
A fascinating and inspiring book. I highly recommend.

Cristiane Teixeira de Oliveira: I found this book while looking for some science books for my son. It was a great find!
This book shows children that great scientists were just like them, and the significant contributions to the advancement of science came out of children's innate curiosity. It is very inspiring for them!
