Marilise Blignaut: It was a good read - really immerses the reader in what it is like to be on the PCT. Although he claims to be very open minded however I found a lot of his opinions to be close minded and ignorant. But - to each their own I guess.

Elizabeth Rhodes: The respect of our nation, the beauty of our country, and the joy of meeting others, were a clear indication of something that speaks loud and clear over the pages of this book. Hats off to the author. An enjoyable book for us couch potatoes who hiked back years ago and relived it through his writings.

Scott Foreman: Great story and very amusing at times. I loved the real life adventures of this book. Well written and just long enough.

Kindle Customer 4easycats: Having hiked in my early adulthood, this book reminded me of what it felt like to disengage from the fast paced adult daily life. Getting out on the trail simplifies life down to basics & nature in all forms. The book is never slow & you don’t have to be a hiker to enjoy it.

Kindle Customer: Several years ago I read a couple other PCT books. I didn't remember that the trail was complete. I thought sections were unmarked and difficult to follow. Rick 's book seemed easier to read as he had a positive attitude about hiking and was willing to change plans if needed. Thank you Rick for an enjoyable read. Just wish there were more pictures in it of people and scenery. Are you ever planning on doing the first and last sections to be a true thru PCT hiker?

Beth Bolitho: I enjoyed this book, the self reflections as well as the curiosity about others. A good balance of trail challenges and people. Someday I’ll do it too.

Amazon Customer: Really enjoyed this book. It almost like I was along for the ride. Very funny in parts, especially the best and toothbrush joke. Rick Rogers is a humble, amazing man and a !peel husband and father.

Cheryl: Rick Rogers doesn't walk the entire PCT, but he "walks home" on most of it. His view, despite a self-proclaimed lean towards a touch of Old Man Grump, is generally optimistic.

This one of the newer narratives on the PCT: post-"Wild"*, and pre-pandemic. So he recognizes the trail experience has changed in the past decade, and not simply just because of Wild.

Rogers' writing voice is very approachable. His story of the PCT perhaps will not be liked by trail "purists", but it's the definition of "hike your own hike", the thru-hikers' unofficial motto. I very much enjoyed this read.

* "Wild": I very much disliked this book, which seems to go against popular opinion, but I've read a large swath of PCT books, and that's my honest opinion.

Mark Ritchie: The author is literate, humorous, entertaining and thought provoking. I enjoyed reading this journal about his journey. I would recommend this book.

Rosie Q: Entertaining, easy to read description of walking the PCT. The author is obviously astute and a quick judge of character. I enjoyed reading about all the people he encountered during the walk and how they affected him. This is a very difficult trek to complete with many hardships along the way but also beautiful scenery and moments of solitude and insight. There are many funny episodes to lighten the tone especially the kayaking adventure with his son.
I would recommend this book which I found difficult to put down.
