alberta hogan: Beautiful book with lots of information even if you’re not a hiker. BUT - I ordered this for a gift - the cover was wrinkled at the top - NOT a nice, smooth book cover that I would have liked.

bluebird: Classic quality of National Geographic publications with dramatic and diverse photography and copy that is both enjoyable and informative. The foreword by Adam Sakura adds a nice touch. Kate Siber writes engaging and descriptive introductions to each hike and provides critical details (distance, best time to go, length of trip, difficulty) Novices will appreciate some of the packing information. Display it on the coffee table and you’ll find yourself picking it up frequently to dream of and plan your next adventure.

BookAddict12: Beautiful book with gorgeous photographs. The only issue I have with it is that a lot of these hikes are for very experienced hikers only. There's not a whole lot that's suitable for more casual hikers.

KW: This gives a glimpse of many places around the world where people might like to go for hikes. The photos are lovely. Perhaps fewer hikes could be covered in more detail but it is fun to look at anyway. I like that it covers all continents.

Ilona Tsanko: Bottom line: the book is a nice shelf book - fun to flip through the pages, look at some nice pictures and get ideas. But don’t expect good descriptions of the hikes themselves. You will need to do much more research just to decide whether to do the suggested hikes or not.
As an avid hiker , I bought the book for some inspiration regarding potential hikes. The pictures in the book are pretty, but some hikes have not very informative pictures that convey a sense of the views. The descriptions of the trails is very lacking as well. Given that it’s a National Geographic book I expected either more pictures or better descriptions (both would have been too much to ask).
The suggested hikes do look awesome and the book did give me inspiration regarding hikes I could do. But inspiration is about it. I needed to research a lot online just to gather more information regarding the hikes and whether they fit my skills, not to mention the guide books and maps I bought in order to plan the hikes.
One could have probably came across these hikes roaming hiking blogs online for free. But that would require some serious research effort as the hikes are scattered around the...
