Vanessa: Um dos livros mais lindos que tenho, sem dúvida! Amei ler sobre o processo criativo desse musical que é tão especial pra mim. Através de pequenos depoimentos, elenco e produção nos contam um pouco do que foi criar a peça original. Achei muito legal que inclui até sketches com ideias de cenários, figurinos, rascunhos de texto… Além de muitas fotos lindas do elenco caracterizado e nos bastidores. No final, temos também o texto completo da peça, incluindo as letras das músicas. Por algumas horas, voltei pra Oz e revivi todo esse mundo mágico. Amei muito, muito mesmo. Favorito.

R. Graham: If you love Wicked, the musical, then you will love this book, which is full of behind the scenes info and gorgeous photos of the actors and the sets. The Grimmerie explains how the original book by Gregory Maguire became a phenomenal musical. It is not the story that is told in the musical. You can buy a book called Wicked, The Broadway Musical by Winnie Holzman with the story told in the musical.

If you want to read the story of Wicked, I highly recommend Ms. Holzman's book over the original story by Mr. Maguire. I do not have anything against Mr. Maguire personally. His story is quite imaginative, possibly even brilliant, and has the same very interesting themes as those portrayed in the musical. Mr. Maguire's story is just too dark, too pornographic and too depressing for me. I prefer the much happier ending of the play. I know that life does not always have a happy ending but that is precisely why I like my fantasy to end in a cheery way.

Mojo Risin': My daughter is a big fan of the play. So for her birthday, we gave her tickets for her and a friend. At the play, all the programs were sold out and she was disappointed. So, I started researching Amazon to see what was out there. I found this book and read the reviews. (The book is not all encompassing and does contain a lot about earlier productions of the play with the performers of that time over the current performers. However, it reveals a lot of good backstage info, history and insight. Read the reviews and let your preferences guide you.) The book has a quality, distressed look binding for effect.

I also checked out some other sites, then came back to Amazon and bought it for a Christmas present. The purchase/delivery was prompt and effortless. The price at that time was the best out there (some were asking 3 times as much plus shipping). And now you can get it even cheaper. My daughter loves the book, it came in time for Christmas and the price was reasonable. I feel I hit a homerun.

Captain EO: I'm pretty sure that if you're looking at this book then it's somehow linked to the highly successful musical. Whether you've seen the show and loved it or maybe you know someone else who loves it I can only recommend that this is a great purchase for anyone who really enjoyed "Wicked - The Musical"

I should point out that I'm a pretty typical British guy. I love my football more than I love my music, films, books, etc so you could hardly label me a "theatre-buff". I do still really enjoy my entertainment (usually American-produced) & I catch any show that takes my fancy but it's usually musicals with very-high production-values that I enjoy most. I have to say that "Wicked" simply blew me away - the music, the perfomances, the sets, the story, everything really.

Quickly after seeing the show I read Gregory McQuire's novel which I'd had my eye on for years but it was "The Grimmerie" that really gave me most pleasure to read. I love Behind-the-Scenes books anyway but this book is sheer class. It's inevitably linked to the original Broadway production so in terms of performers the cast won't be the same ones you'll be watching in theatre's now but everything else...

K. Bradburn: I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I bought the Grimmerie, as my only points of reference were the cover, and amazon uk/us site reviews.

However, if anyone considers themselves a serious fan of the show, this is absolutely a must-have.

There is alot of detail on how the show was put togther, how it came to be from the first ideas of the plot in Maguire's head to a fully-fledged hit on Broadway.

The photos are fantastic, although most were nothing I hadn't seen before from promotional shots except for some like those of Elphie "getting green" and some special shots of the tour cast etc.

The detail that has gone into the book is wonderful and the size and material within it are well worth the price.

I was disappointed by nothing, and so thoroughly recommend it. It's a great companion book to the show, and I've not yet seen something quite like it, bar the Rent "bible" by Jonathon Larson. Hopefully it'll inspire other hit shows to do the same!
