cedy: I bought this just before our 3 week trip to Portugal last Sept/Oct. All the information was correct. The book showed me some interesting places that I did not know about. That's what I like about LP books - they cover a lot of smaller towns/regions/attractions & let's you decide if they're worth seeing.

I've stopped using guide books for food & lodging recommendations since online review sites are much better and more current.

Edward Ramras: I bought the book right after the new edition came out and a few days before leaving on a 2 week trip to Portugal. Earlier in the year, I also bought the Rick Steves Portugal guidebook. My wife and I found the LP book to be very "information dense" but up to date and useful, while the Rick Steves book had a bit less information (less lodging and eating information) but easier to use. We ended up depending on both. For example, the Steves book has suggested self-guided walking tours with simple maps to follow. The LP book has very detailed maps with lots of attractions to see, restaurants, and places to stay on them. However, the maps omit some streets and street names due to space considerations. In cities and towns with small winding streets which change names every few blocks with almost non-existent street signs this can cause problems. We got lost in Porto and wandered for over an hour trying to find a highlighted bookstore because the critical intersection we had to turn on was in the margin between pages and couldn't fit the name of the street. Although using Google Maps on your phone may be a better alternative, mobile data/wi-fi can be spotty, especially if your home phone...
