Ich weiß nicht wie es dir geht, aber ich habe schon immer davon geträumt, ein Biber zu sein und stundenlang an einem Damm zu arbeiten. Aber um ein Biber zu sein, muss man auch wissen, wie man in der Wildnis überlebt. Deshalb habe ich mir "Reader's Digest North American Wildlife: An Illustrated Guide to 2,000 Plants and Animals" besorgt, um mich auf meine zukünftige Karriere als Biber vorzubereiten.
Vor- und Nachteile:
Das Buch ist randvoll mit interessanten Fakten über die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt Nordamerikas. Von süßen Eichhörnchen bis hin zu furchterregenden Grizzlybären - hier findest du alles, was du über die Tierwelt wissen musst. Die Illustrationen sind auch wirklich beeindruckend und veranschaulichen das Aussehen der Tiere und Pflanzen sehr gut.
Allerdings gibt es auch ein paar Nachteile. Zum Beispiel ist das Buch ziemlich schwer und groß, was es schwierig macht, es in einer Tasche mitzunehmen. Außerdem fehlen manchmal ein paar wichtige Informationen über die Tiere, wie zum Beispiel ihre Essgewohnheiten oder ihr Verhalten in der Gruppe.
Fazit: Insgesamt ist "Reader's Digest North American Wildlife" ein großartiger...

Bought this book as a gift for my grandaughter as she loves animals and although she is only eight years old, I can see that this book will last years and so comprehensive - includes so much - animals, plants etc. very impressed with it!

I purchased this as a gift for family, I personally have an older edition and find it invaluable for recognizing plants and animals. It is usually quicker and easier to find an animal or plant in this book than to try and wade through the results from an internet search engine.
The book is very well organized and usually quickly leads to an illustration of the plant, bug or animal your searching for and the short overview usually includes the important details I recommend grabbing this book first before trying internet searches because the idealized illustration makes for easier identification than actual pictures and the short overview included with each entry gives the information you need to narrow down any internet search results to the more useful links.

First of all, this book is not new. It has been circulating in various formats and editions for several years -if not decades. This, perhaps, explains its old style guide look. Photographs are rare in it (actually, you find then only in the introduction). All species are illustrated by coloured artworks which range from simply functional (good nonetheless) to superb. I happen to like old style hand illustrated guides, so this is not any fault for me. Coverage of species is actually better than I had expected when I ordered it. The most familiar animals, plants or fungi from all biotopes, land, marine, freshwater are concisely portrayed here. Yet, what made me like this book more than everything else is the information it gives you. There are interesting introductions for every group of living creatures treated inside, notes on various North American environments and species descriptions all writen in a simple and colourful language -nothing like the bland and dry text of other guides. This book, may not be the most modern and exact recognition tool for work in the field but it is certainly a joy to read.
