Frank S: A cute and irresistible fun series to read
I just finished reading book #11, the characters sort of grow and grow in interest. Truly a very fun and light hearted read.

Jane Juanita Roberts: This is book 3 of the series, and I am getting to enjoy these books more with each one, so much so that when I finished no. 2, I immediately bought no 3!!! I recommend this series of book as a happy way of passing the cold winter days, or enjoying the summer holidays relaxing.

K9Mom: The ongoing lack of proofreading and editing of myriad grammatical, context and spelling mistakes is distracting and most unnecessary, particularly considering the volume of e-books this writer has produced.

Jana Marvel: I love these books!! I am only on Volume 3 but feel like I know the people and I love that there is nothing extraordinary or over the top exciting but the books have all been consistently great! I can't wait to get into bed at night and read what is happening in the village - very relaxing, funny, touching, and real. Great job! Please write more!

PS Wilson: The village is out of water, brother in law Barry plans to propose, and Victor hunts for snails. A lot happens in this book from Victor working as a tour guide to a visit from his son. Great fun.

Linda: I enjoyed reading these books - I like his quirky sense of humour, I like how you're not quite sure if the story is 100% true or well-embellished!! I love the characters he meets, plus you also get to know his family and extended family. I enjoyed the first book so much I then bought all volumes (1-4) and will be buying volume 5 when it comes out. Thank you Victor!!

Intipuss: I was very lucky in that this book was for sale mid September time , just in time for me to download it, and head to Crete on holiday a few days later. It was the first book I read. This time I did not have the trauma of having to keep it safe and unread for weeks and months. These books are like Retsini, Raki & Feta. They taste perfectly well in Greece but once you bring them home, the flavour is not quite as you expected it. Luckily, that means we have to keep flying back to Crete every time a new book is published! My friends who have lived on Crete full time, for 12 years now, also bought the books and are starting to become very paranoid......
Yet again, the similarities in the stories that unfold between Victor and Marjorie, and, their Greek and Expat friends, almost marry those stories told by my friends in Crete. They now suspect someone living in their village is writing these books under an alias! You can almost see the 'evil eye' on them as they scan everyone in the village to find the elusive V D Bucket. Personally I hope they never find him, or her. as these books are truly fun to read. They, other expat friends, plus my partner and I love these books and hope...

Jennywren37: I am a big fan of reading Greek village stories and in the V D Bucket books all the characters have their own individual quirks and funny habits particularly their attempts at the English language and vice versa. This consequently leads to a lot of funny situations and misunderstandings.
Having settled into the village of Meli in the Mani region of Greece Victor and Marigold look forward to welcoming Marigold's brother Barry to live with them in the village along with resident ex-pat Cynthia who he met and fell in love with earlier in the series. The couple experience more miss-haps involving their friends at the taverna and village builder Vangelis but Spiros the undertaker continues to give them his support. Victor continues to write his book on his and Marigold's experiences of village life so hopefully we shall read more about their Greek adventures in a Volume 4 very soon.

Sweet Chestnut: I have enjoyed all three books, but have only given this one three stars, although essentially just as enjoyable as the other two except for the following reasons: Victor has from the outset impressed upon his reader his pre-occupation with kitchen hygiene - nothing wrong with that, but just in case we had forgotten we were constantly reminded of it in the second book, and God forbid if we had any lingering doubts, he pressed the point in the third book at every opportunity. It is wearing a bit thin now, not to say irritating. Yes we get it now shut up about it - please. The second annoyance is his penchant to reiterate so much, it is annoying and interupts the flow. I've read all three books, I know who people are and what happened in the last two books so need to keep reminding me. I do hope there is a 4th book and I may even buy it, but if there is any reference to kitchen hygiene, that's where I will stop reading, give the book a big thumbs down and find something else to read.
