T.B.: Our freezer doesn’t have a water line hooked up to it so I bought this. I’ve had it for a year using it several times a day and it’s worked great. I started out bagging ice with it thinking I’d run out, but with just my wife and I, it keeps up easily. I keep a bag or 2 full for when we have guests or need to fill a cooler. It’s a bit noisy when it’s dropping ice and filling up, but nothing too bad, I don’t even notice it anymore. There was one moment that it started making a really loud noise and I thought I was going to have to send it back, but after unplugging it for the night and plugging it back in the next day I haven’t ever had it happen again. I think an ice cube might have been scooped into the back and got lodged in somewhere restricting movement of an arm or something. Anyway I’ve been very happy with my purchase.

P. Osterhous: I really like ice, and have recently started making iced coffee to keep in the fridge and wanted an ice maker because the freezer trays are a pain to keep up with. My mom got me this one for my birthday.

We set it up last night, so this review is based on one night of use. It was well packaged to prevent damage. The instructions weren’t really super clear how to use, but there was a decent video on this page and that definitely helped. There’s a plug of sort on the bottom (in addition to the drain plug), we still can’t really figure out if it’s supposed to be removed- it looks like there’s a packing styrofoam inside and it was covered with an adhesive sticker, but on the video it looked like it was left on, so we left it alone. If anyone knows what we were supposed to do with it, please let me know…

It started making ice pretty fast, but made like 10 cubes per cycle. I left it running and went to bed, woke up a few hours later and the bin was full. It was noticeably loud while producing ice, but not bad enough that it woke us up. Sounded about as loud as a standard refrigerator ice maker when you hold a cup up to it. Michael Fitz: Update - 1st use(Dec 2021) 18 months later we are very happy we purchased this one. It still works as fast & as well as it did when new. We only use purified water, refrigerated 1st - result: Fast ice cube cycle about every 8 mins as advertised. Room temp water takes a lot longer yielding smaller cubes. When ice basket is full, machine hibernates until ice removed. Machine is pretty quiet, can hear cubes dumping which is a nice reminder, while doing other things but is not loud or obnoxious. Wife & I make 2 or 3 gallon zip bags at a time, then turn off machine(easy drain plug at bottom) until we need more ice. Easy & quick enough for the 2 of us using ice in almost all our beverages. I'd say our usage has been heavy. A main reason for selecting this brand & model are the number of positive reviews versus any other model we looked at. We did buy the extended warranty but haven't needed it - $20 covers any issue - for 5 years. If this one is not available when ever we need to replace it(which may not be for several years the way this is performing) we will stick to Uhomy

marinesquirel: I have no complaints about the ice maker. I do wish that the inside would be cooler so the ice would last longer though. It's super easy to use, it tastes like water (it had me rate the flavor for some reason) which is fantastic, because that's exactly what I put in it.

Some downsides are the ease of cleaning. It can be a pain to clean sometimes. It never empties the water all the way, so you need to awkwardly empty it in the sink. It's not super heavy, but it is bottom heavy which makes emptying it awkward as heck. A place to actually put the included scoop would be nice. I also noticed the scoop is a soft plastic, so you will need to change it out sooner rather than later. Otherwise, it makes ice faster than my fridge and its way cheaper than to pay for a repair guy to come and fix it... again.

KewlDadiJ: We purchased this when the ice maker in our Samsung broke. Again. It has worked wonderfully. It makes ice quickly. The ice is wet and tends to stick together once transferred to the freezer. My wife solves this by pouring the ice on a paper towel or two and dries the ice before putting it in the freezer. My solution is simpler. I dump the ice in the bin, let it freeze together, then take my meat tenderizer “hammer” and gently tap the mass. And they nicely break apart. Takes about 5 seconds. If I could improve one item I would make the ice cubes bigger. They are not bad sized, but they melt in my drink pretty fast. Some reviews address the noise. We don’t even notice it.
