M. Bice: Never want anything but free-standing ice-maker. Great eating size ice, and when we know we will be hosting just fill a container and put into the freezer, starting a day or 2 before.

Kevin BennettKevin Bennett: We bought this Frigidaire EFIC229 ice maker to replace an Igloo ice maker we had for about 2 years before it finally wore out. We used this Frigidaire EFIC229 ice maker for about 9 months before we finally had to get rid of it. While it made ice as described, after only about 5 months the ice "tray" area, where the ice is made started to corrode and the “chrome” plating started to peal off with all of this getting into the ice. Along with this there started to be an accumulation of sediment in the water tank after just 48 hours or so.
Of course, all of the corrosion, pealing, and sediment started well after any return date and rather than bother with messing with contacting anyone we just finally decided to junk it and replace it with another like we had previously. I have attached pictures of what I describe as the “ice tray” where the ice is made, that corroded and pealed. The corrosion and pealing started after less than 5 months of use. I would not recommend the Frigidaire EFIC229 ice maker. By the way, we used regular city tap water and have a water softener, and have never had any issues of corrosion like this with any other water faucet, ice maker, etc. before.

EricaErica: Does what it says make an amazing amount of cubes in a short time compared to my small reg ice machine the sheer size of the large are perfect .. make three size cubes and the volume I can’t say enough they are bigger and thicker and last when I add liquids

wdodge45: This machine works well and does produce a decent amount of ice. The only and biggest problem is the ice basket. The plastic handles are thin and cheaply made. I had an issue with the handles cracking and breaking off which is a real issue as this is the only way to get the ice out once it's made. Contacted customer service at 11 months as this machine has a 1 yr warranty. They wanted to charge me $38.00 for a new basket saying the warranty had to be filed in 30 days after receiving the machine. So, there 1 yr warranty doesn't mean crap and they wanted me to pay for a new basket for the one not holding up.
So, buyers beware I would not buy this machine again and warn other to please look at other brands. Hopefully others will read this and stay away as the same thing will happen to them and they will not stand behind their so-called warranty. I rarely post a bad review, but this is deserving and hoping to avoid others from this major flaw and mfg bogus warranty.

Elaine Southmayd: I am addicted to ice! There, I've admitted it. Also, I won't drink water if it tastes. Chlorine or anything else, to me, is horrible. So I drink distilled water. Also, we need distilled water for our CPAP machines and my husband's nose. So my ice machine only gets distilled water. Needless to say, the ice machine is MINE! I initially bought a small one. It made great ice, but we kept running out. So we got this Frigidaire. It is awesome! Not only does it make ice enough for me, my husband, and my son, but it just keeps on and on. I like the smaller pieces. But honestly, it doesn't matter. You can set it to small, medium, or large. It doesn't get larger, just thicker. We are very happy with it. It is fast, and it runs all the time. Stops when it is full, but otherwise, it is making ice. We highly recommend it over several other brands we have had.
