Bobbler: I watched a YouTube video (project farm) comparing different jackstands (how much weight they could take before they deform, and how easy it was to tip over a vehicle on Jack stands, etc)..
Too bad this particular jackstand was not included in the test, but after learning from watching; I believe esco would be among the best of them….
Very robust, and the base is a chunk wider than my old jackstands (which is the operative thing that makes it easy to tip a car over.. Watching that video spooked, me and I will be using rubber wheel chocks from now on.. you don’t need the neighbor neighborhood kids screwing around when a car is on jackstands)..
The triangle shape makes it so all 3 feet touch the ground, but I’m not too sure how that works in terms of a wider base (for the car tipping).
My old jackstands were the typical ones with teeth, and the top of it made to support by an axle.. There are quite a few YouTube videos, where the teeth break, or something goes wrong with the mechanism, and they don’t support the weight of the vehicle (my old ones are going into the trash)..
The Esco jackstands are a chunk heavier than my old jackstands.....

Gab M: Jacked up front end and back end of a bmw 3 series and let the car sit on a couple of these stands without any issues. Rubber pad was nice, but needed adapters for my car.

Dave: When we got our pickup I wanted something a little sturdier then your cheapo 3ton axle stands. I also wanted something you can place under the frame of the truck which the axle stands aren't great for. This is really the only option on the market, which might explain it's price, unless something else has popped up since.
It is definitely expensive but it's well made and very sturdy, I feel much safer under the truck with these holding it up and it's perfect for placing under the frame. I've seen a lot of people complain that their jack came crooked but everything on mine seems straight.
My only real complain is that the welds are a touch amateur hour, they look solid enough but at this price I would expect better.

3RUJ03RUJ0: First the pictures show the difference between the 10498 (13.2”-21.5”) and 10499 (11”-17”)
The price is high for a single stand but hold 3 tons and the pin I feel is more secure than the regular ratchet model that sell those capacity by pair.
I don’t use them yet because I wanted to know which model could work for my car (Honda crv) that is why I have both now
The clearance I have between the ground and the point jack is 10” , my floor Jack has a 15” maximum high , since the lowest setting for the 98 is 14” minimum with the pad ( without the pad is 13”) I only have 1” clearance to place the jack under the car so in the beginning I thought could be too big for my car so I did order the 99 model but I think I will stick with the 98 .
What I don’t like of the stand is when you go to a higher setting the post will move and feels unsafe (I’m sure it is but personally don’t like that) so is something that some people should keep on mind Someone here in Amazon has a video about that
The rubber pads to replace are expensive ($24 each plus shipping) and some reviews say they brake after few uses , so I bought a pair of tick pads in...

William S.: First and foremost: order these separately, one at a time if you are able. So far I've purchased 3. I need 4 for my 340i and girlfriends Jetta. If you order them in pairs they will arrive looking pretty jacked up, no pun intended. Packaging for a single is bad enough. All 3 boxes I've received so far have been banged up with parts of the stand penetrating the cardboard. No damage to the stands though, which is why it's important to only order one at a time.
The paint coating is fine, but nothing special. I am considering spraying these with plasti dip or rust-oleum to give them a layer a protection. I'm convinced they will last for life as long as rust and corrosion stays away.
The welds are not great, but they're more than enough to keep the jack stand from falling apart. The rubber caps are a nice touch, but I don't see them lasting long. Hockey pucks do fit perfectly in the recessed circle at the top of the stand which is why these are so desirable.
My main issue is the price. One of these costs as much as a pair of stands that will safely get the job done. It's not like these are made in the USA and they certainly aren't made with crazy attention to...

Amazon Customer: I find myself doing regular maintenance on our cars and trucks. Too many times the dealer or garage took shortcuts that cost me money because the work was not done properly. So reluctantly I find myself under cars and pickups.
The initial set of jack stands that I purchased were very traditional and cost effective. They were rated for about 3 tons and could raise the car about 18 inches. I thought they were pretty good. The flip up handle made setting the height easy; maybe too easy. One day while it was holding up a boat trailer it just suddenly let go, dropping all the way down. There was no serious consequences, but it scared the h**l out of of me. If the same thing had happened with a car, it could have resulted in serious injury or even a fatal accident.
I really don't know what caused the jack stand to release. I was not able to reproduce, but it did spook me enough to do my research into jack stands. The result was finding the ESCO stands. They are not cheap, but they are really solid and safe. And, there is no way they can release on their own.
These stands are an investment into your personal security. They make working under a car or pickup stress...
