Jade: I won't say I hated this book because I didn't but I didn't love it either.
I think books are personal preference and we all like different writing styles. I've come to realise that whilst I hate books that give far too much detail and drag on I also don't like books that seem to skim over the story which for me personally, I feel this book does. For my personal preference I feel it just moved far too quickly and there we're times where I feel like the author could of carried on and given more detail/substance/more of a story for the reader.
I quite enjoyed the story. I enjoyed the setting and the descriptions of her surroundings. The author did a great job in his descriptions and it really did come across idyllic and like a wonderful place to live. Lucy grated on me from time to time though as she was saying she was going to see how things in her life panned out yet she constantly kept looking to the future and telling herself things wouldn't work out because of her conscience and morals. Why even start certain things/situations if they don't sit right morally. I suppose people will say well she was obviously taking chances but as someone who wouldn't take a chance if it...

Celia Svoboda: The book was well written, somewhat predictable but a pleasant read to escape into.

Michelle McLaughlinMichelle McLaughlin: I have read several of the 'Dreaming of' series by TA Williams and l am always hooked by the first chapter, so I was looking forward to starting this new series. Well blow me down with a feather I wasn't hooked by the first chapter, or no, this time I was hooked right from the prologue. Yes TA Williams has upped his game and I didn't think that was possible.
This book has a depth to the story line, covering doctors without borders right from the start. Hence why I was hooked.
I loved the characters, that includes the humans as well as the dogs, the stunning descriptions of Tuscany that make you feel like you are right there enjoying the beautiful view and savouring the delicious food. I also learnt a lot about doctors working in a war zone and I like how the author has dedicated this book to frontline workers. I couldn't put this down and highly recommend Under a Sienna Sun

This was my first book by author T.A. Williams and it was a pleasant surprise! The author did a wonderful job capturing the landscape, food, and culture of Italy with beautiful descriptive language!
Having worked with Doctors Without Borders and escaping an war zone that threated her safety in Africa, Lucy finds herself in need of a break from work. She decided to take a vacation to relax her body and mind. She finds herself wanting to attend her best friend's wedding in Siena.
I loved Lucy as a character! She was strong and steadfast in her beliefs. While she is a talented doctor and can have her pick of jobs, she is determined to work at a hospital that she can make a difference. Lucy was so down-to-earth. I liked how she was willing to immerse herself in the lives of the people around her even when one of them might not be the friendliest neighbor. I found David to be a great love interest for Lucy! While he was a mega sports star, he was not drawn into the glamor and trappings of the rich. He and Lucy made an amazing couple. Both were looking for a way to use what they have been given to make a difference in the world. The writing and the pacing allowed the...

Deborah A. Blackbourn: Mr. Williams wrote a great story! Lucy, a doctor working in the Congo, was airlifted out when her location was threatened. She had always spent her life dealing with the underdogs. After being airlifted to safety, she decided to take some R & R in Tuscany. She met up with friends from her childhood. She is offered a job working in a private hospital with high-profile individuals. She constantly questioned herself working with people who were very wealthy while there were such poor people living everywhere.
She meets her new neighbor, David, who happens to be an ex- tennis pro, worth multi-millions. She falls in love with David but she still questions how she could continue a relationship with someone so rich when she knows there are so many people living in squalor! David proposes & Lucy faces a dilemma - can she learn to live with someone who is a multi-millionaire or should she tell him she can’t marry him? The scenes were well described & the characters were very believable! Good book that makes someone question how they are living their life also!

myyorkies1994: I wanted to love this story, a romance set in Tuscany, but there was a constant stream of negatives that kept niggling at me throughout the entire book that added up to an insurmountable mountain. The author chose a title with the hope of riding on the coattails of a wildly successful book and movie, but the moral compass of the h steered it in a different direction entirely.
The h is a doctor whose been in a high income job for many years before going to Africa, but she now finds wealth and all its trappings repugnant. This becomes a constant hounding in nearly every scene and several times per page so that it overtook everything else.
The author is British so this book is written in Brit-speak, the slang, lack of the use of articles a, an, the, etc., awkward sentence structure, and truncated words. He even has the American using the words 'flaming row' to describe arguments with his wife. Americans don't say 'row'. There's the use of 19th century phrases, foreign language phrases with no translation, repeating the same info over and over, repeated use of 'stuff', stupid lines like "Hopefully she wasn’t living next to a vampire." and "It’s not on the San Andreas...

Henthorne4: This story goes beyond a love story in Siena. There are some many other interesting topics that are covered well. I picked this one out to read given and up coming trip to Siena. Not only did I get the Tuscany vibe but it also was thought provoking in other areas. A good read!
