kate: As stated, this dripper makes a strong cup of coffee very quickly. Of course you could just use less coffee as you get familiar. The ceramic doesn't seem to stain at all. The only oddity is that it shows the filters as pointy at the tip. I originally just used my regular #2s and they worked fine, really. But I decided to order some pointy-tipped ones online and they do fit right in as this dripper has one large hole directly in the bottom. I'm very impressed and pleased with how quickly it drips! The swirling grooves must indeed hold the coffee near the water to get the most out of it. This is my 3rd dripper and it's way ahead of the others. It makes an excellent cup of coffee!

C: Was very hesitant to try this coffee method but I found I’m allergic to nickel (so I can’t use any stainless steel) and not wanting to use plastic coffee machines after my keurig finally died, I decided to try this.

I’m honestly obsessed. I thought it would be complicated/tedious but it’s really no more complicated than brewing loose leaf tea. I try to make two cups at a time to put one in the fridge to make it a little faster some mornings. This method really produces some amazing tasting coffee. Usually with other methods, I feel like it can be hit or miss if you skew the ratio even a tad but every time this has produced great (very strong) coffee.

I also love that this is ceramic so I can hand wash or put in the dishwasher whereas when I previously had a french press, I never really trusted it in the dishwasher so that was an extra pain cleaning it all the time.

I truly can’t recommend this enough!

StormJH1: I really like the Hario V60 coffee drippers, and I've used a LOT of different pour-over devices. In fact, it may be my favorite coffee dripper, with the trendy Kalita Wave 185 being a close competitor.

I used a cheap plastic Melitta dripper with a flat-bottom triangular filter for years - it can work pretty well, but I found that it would get clogged on occasion and drain too slowly. So, I started to look at other alternatives. I've used a Chemex brewer for a few years if I want a premium cup, but Chemex filters are expensive and it's a slightly more time consuming process. More recently, I found a discounted ceramic cone brewer from Caribou Coffee, which I figured out was basically a knock-off or re-branded Hario V60 (it even provides the filters for it). I was so happy with it at my office that I purchased this V60 white ceramic model for use at home.

The V60 is easy to set up, easy to clean up, and a generally forgiving way to brew small-to-moderate amounts of coffee. The cone design makes a lot of sense because it prevents water from sidestepping the grounds and finding its way into the cup. Y. C.: I've always been a drip coffee lover. All these years I have resisted the trend of single serve pod machines and fancy espresso makers. And about a month ago, something came over me: I ditched my 9-year-old drip coffee maker and got me an eye-pleasing semi-automatic espresso machine. My rationale was, a ten-cup coffee maker was too clunky for one person. While I enjoyed the professional look of cappuccino every morning and the simplicity of cleaning up afterwards, something was missing.

One Saturday, after a brunch at a local bakery with an endless mug of coffee, I decided to have an option to make simple drip coffee again, but not with two coffee makers sitting on my countertop. After much research I went for this Hario along with a Hiware glass carafe.

As soon as the two arrived (on the same day, thank goodness), I ripped open the packaging like a desperate addict, rinsed them, and followed the instructions to make four cups of my first ever pour-over coffee. Watching the coffee grinds bloom, smelling the coffee while brewing, hearing the drips, seeing rich brown coffee though the glass carafe are all only enjoyable but teach me a lot about the brewing process....
