Paul Roy: I have had this product for about 4 months now and I absolutely love this unit. It boils water quickly, it's easy to control the temperature, it's a modern clean looking design. I would buy another one of these unit to compliment my first one.

A. Grazing Mace: Best feature, 20 power levels instead of just 10. Very important for delicate cooking like eggs and sauces. The LCD display is easier to read than the red LED type. Logical controls, if you are familiar with induction tops. I wish it would start at the lowest power level when turned on, instead of half way.

Andre Robichaud: Bought 2. One of them makes a high pitched noise but heats normally. Super fast for boiling but if you’re doing pasta stir it more frequently than you would on a stove. The heat comes from the centre of the pot and spreads out. Becomes a hot spot for food to stick. Don’t use small induction pots! It won’t detect and you’ll get an error. Touch panel is annoying if it gets wet (splash from hard boil) and starts doing crazy things on its own. Lightweight and easy to put away.

Some guy: Pros: Fast - Takes literally 3 minutes to cook eggs in a stainless steel (induction compatible) pan. Great option if you have a gas stove and want the ability to pivot to another cooking method, or lean towards electricity/solar when gas rates get silly. As efficient as an electric kettle at boiling, but not limited to just water. Doesn't put heat into the environment, just the pan. Contact safety means if the pan is lifted, you get a quiet alarm for a few seconds before the cooker shut down. Takes under a minute for the fans to stop after cooking is done and can be unplugged.

Cons: The high-frequency pitch on "boil" (power 10) setting will trigger tinnitus/pets. Shiny surface shows every little speck/splatter, but is easy to wipe down. You just might wish to do it more often. The shiny glass cooktop is delicate, so if you're the type of cook who enjoys shaking a pan over heat, this is more a set-and-forget style of cooker. Could be a deal-breaker for some.

Would absolutely buy again.

Mike Brennan: I purchased this cooktop because it got the highest recommendation from New York Time's Wirecutter, which has been testing induction cooktops for years, and because it seemed like a good way to dip my toe into the induction cooking pool for not a lot of money. It also provided a quick and easy way to reduce the use of my gas stove. Cooking with gas can have a detrimental effect on indoor air quality and indeed personal health, something most of us have not taken as seriously as we should.

And as the electricity grid becomes increasingly powered by renewables like wind and solar, phasing out all use of fossil fuels in favor of electric appliances will become increasingly desirable. Thus I wanted to get a glimpse of what my cooking future might look like a few years from now, given that I've long believed that gas provides the best cooking experience.

It's interesting how admirable qualities in an appliance can be swamped by irritations -- something every product designer should take seriously. For me the biggest irritation by far is that the unit beeps continuously whenever it's turned on but without an appropriate (ie., ferrous) pot or skillet positioned on the...

Ben Barclay: I live off grid in a Net Zero Tiny Home I built myself. I use this unit as my main stove. Adjusting the power level adjusts the watts it uses, which is important so I don't drain my batteries too fast, or unnecessarily. This unit pops on at "5", half way to "10", which I think is about 600 watts.

I cook a thick steak in 6 minutes, with the lid on, in a 2 quart sauce pan. 1 minute at 5 to sear the meat. 2 minutes at 3 and then flip. 1 minute at 5 to brown the second side. 2 minutes at 2, and it automatically turns off. I leave it to settle and continue cooking for about 2 minutes, and "Down The Hatch". Perfect rare steak, brown on both sides. In six minutes!

I love how the timer works, very easy to set. I'm a precision nut in cooking and this is as fussy as I am.

It boils a coffee cup of water in my pour over kettle set on 5 in 50 seconds, the time it takes me to grind the beans in my hand grinder. At 10, it would be maybe 20 seconds. I can't grind that fast, so I set it for 5. Did I say I'm fussy, lol?

Best of all, I can cook dinner, and my 200AH of batteries have not gone down measurably. Not even 1% of capacity. The unit is quite durable and easy to...

Creig: I owned a Tramontina induction hot plate for several years before it recently stopped working. It was excellent for searing meat especially steaks, and good for only a few other tasks because the temperature control was crude. This DUX unit, by comparison, is fantastic. What a great improvement! It seems all these less expensive induction hot plates, including this one, control cooking temperature by cycling the power on and off as opposed to controlling the induction coil current. Most of them offer a pan surface that alternates between too hot and too cold . This DUX unit has somehow overcome this problem by using much finer control of the duty cycle. The result is vastly improved temperature control and an induction hot plate that is useful for more than just boiling water or searing meat. The Dux is well designed and very nice looking. This is without any question a best buy. I got a "used" one in a box that had been opened at a nice discount. Could not tell it from a brand new one. Unless you need a 220V unit for use with much larger pots and pans, get this one. Remarkably it will control well all the way from blazing hot to warm at approx. 125 deg F. It has a useful timer...
