Our batteries are designed for maximum battery efficiency, longevity, and overall satisfaction. Plus, the packaging is unbeatable. Visit the Duracell Store today to experience the Duracell difference! John SlaterJohn Slater: Original review: Batteries arrived (in November 2023) with an expiration date of March 2024. Voltage tested OK, around 9.52V, but I need them to last longer than that on the shelf. You'll also see from the picture that they carry the old plain "Procell" branding rather than the newer "Procell Constant" shown on the product page. Returning.
UPDATE: after returning the first shipment ("shipped and sold by Amazon"), I reordered from a different vendor, Preferred Pharmacy Plus. Much better: 2027 expiration, 9.66V. Also cheaper.

JIM: Delivered quickly, a letter was enclosed in the box explaining that the batteries are genuine Duracell, but in the latest company colour and design which I think is good customer service from the seller. Amazon need to change the photo on their web site!! The old photo is not the sellers fault. Too soon to give a full review yet, but as they are Duracell assume they will be good.

G. Linn: The only thing I generally need replacement 9V batteries for are my Smoke Detectors. I have 12 foot ceilings and 9 detectors so I'm not anxious to replace them more than necessary. I know the "rule of thumb" is to replace the batteries every year on your birthday (easy to remember). But, at my age, I'm not wanting to be on a ladder much any more.
So, what I have been doing is to wait for "one" of the detectors to start squealing the "low battery" tone. Then, I replace all 9 at the same time. I do use a marker to record the replacement date on each battery for whatever later reference. The last time I replaced these was about January 2017. They then have lasted about 3 1/2 years before the first one started "squealing". The "use before date" on the pullouts was "March 2019", about a year before this recent replacement. Therefore, I have been quite satisfied with the longevity of these batteries.
Longevity is one thing but "leaking" is more important as it can damage, sometimes permanently, expensive devices. I have never had a Duracell Procell leak. I do use "cheaper" batteries, including Amazon Basic cells, in some things without trouble. I don't really have any...

PuppyLovePuppyLove: First, important to note that there is likely some variation with some users experiences due to the source - different stock has different expiration date/ages, some may actually not be authentic, and some may have some other factor rendering them less than able to perform well. Make sure you always buy from a reputable seller, of course Amazon directly but if not from an authorized dealer or someone with a great history. Otherwise it is possible you may get poor quality ones or fakes etc.
That being said - we have been buying these Procells (not just 9V, all the sizes of the Procell line) for many years now and have been consistently pleased with their performance. They are used in both home and work environments and with some being put to the test (10+ hours of consistent use, very hot outside weather environment and so on) and have had nothing but a great turnout with all of them. Pricing is slightly higher but they are somewhat easy to find from both Amazon and other SBA and similar sellers at a lower cost - however - worth every penny even if you're paying a premium.
I believe the lowest we have paid for this box of $12 was around a dollar a battery, and the...

H. H. DodgeH. H. Dodge: I can't comment on performance/longevity because I just received them. The expiration date on the ones I received is March 2027 (about 3 years and 4 months from now). I believe if you buy them directly from the "Procell" store on Amazon, you'll get a 5-year expiration date. As I write this, the Procell store unit price is cheaper ($1.39 per 9V battery), but you have to buy a pack of 72. I do like the nice terminal cover, which I've don't believe I've ever seen on a 9V battery. 9V batteries are easy to accidentally short out, so the cover is a great addition.
