Rafael Hajioff: This campaign is really good but it could explain a bit more about the background of the story

A: One of the few Underdark adventures for fifth edition it’s well written

T_S_H1: Arrived on time, and in great packaging, no issues, no damage.
I'm just starting to delve into the content. But I'm pleased with the purchase and pricing.

Paul: Good campaign book and had a lot of fun

jess: Years ago I DM’d the 2nd addition Night Below boxed campaign setting.
This book has vibes of that classic but on overdrive. There’s a lot of information contained within for the DM to use and as a player, it’s going to prove to be a pretty traumatic time.
From escaping the clutches of the Drow, to surviving the perils that await out in the lightless tunnels and caverns of the underdark, and with the added terror of the odd demon lord thrown in for good measure, this is a great adventure.
As a note, it also ties in well with the Lost Mines of Phandelver, should you wish to have your pcs captured by Drow at some point.

LETTUCE: I loved the artwork and the story is thrilling!!!

James Ellis: The adventure as written takes a bit of massaging and tweaking to run smoothly, but there is a really fun story there. My players really enjoyed it! Even if you don't use it as-is, it's a good resource for anyone wanting to run an Underdark adventure.

Faxfire: Overall, Out of the Abyss provides a great introduction to the iconic D&D Underdark setting, but suffers from some poor layout, making stringing the campaign as written together a heavy lift for the GM. Out of the Abyss is one of the early long campaigns for D&D 5e, actually written for Wizards of the Coast by Green Ronin, a third party publisher (which has some really awesome other titles like the Book of Fiends, and the Book of the Righteous). Some of the growing pains of remain evident, particularly in the layout of the adventure, which might have benefited from the layout that we see in later 5e products with a gazetteer section detailing major locations and environmental mechanics. The way it currently stands the book is a mixture of this type of mechanical information sprinkled amongst the story elements, requiring a pretty thorough read through and prep in order to implement survival and Underdark environmental effects early on, and putting a pretty heavy prep load on the GM. If you pull these mechanical elements and the locations within the Underdark out though, there are plenty of great spare parts for GMs to leverage in their own campaigns. Pairing elements of...

Nicholas F.: Running this module for coworkers and so far it seems to be going really well. I like the concept as a whole, but I highly recommend reading the whole book ahead of running the adventure and being flexible about how you run it, as it seems more rail-roady than sandbox.

SPOILERS:

While the game offers that your party can go to Menzoberranzan, Darklake, or Gracklestugh after chapter one, what they really mean is you SHOULD go to the Darklake, Gracklestugh isn't the worst idea, and Menzoberranzan is certain death. This is a running theme through the book. You "can" go anywhere, but you only can go one, maybe two places without being captured, or TPK'd. If you do allow your party to not follow strictly to the chapter progression of the book (Velkynvelve > Travel > Darklake > Darklake Travel > Gracklestugh > Travel > Neverlight Grove > Travel > Bligdenstone > Leave Underdark), make sure to be prepared to have NPCs fight on behalf of the party if things get too sticky. Unfortunately, with the pacing of the recommended levels, the book would lead you to believe that any of this activities could take place in any order, but that is simply not the...

Daniel Cenoz: Out Of The Abyss
