Go to any furniture store, and you will spend at least double the price for this bed. Of course, this extra money is because the bed you're now buying will be delivered and put together. However, if you're handy EVEN IN THE SLIGHTEST, you can put this bed together by yourself.
The bed arrived in 3 50lb boxes, all meticulously flat-packed. There was not too much styrofoam, as I was expecting, and everything was easy to unpack. Each piece is given a number, and it corresponds to the directions, which were easy enough to read and understand. Every piece was used, and in the end, the bed is holding up great.
Now to answer some common questions about home assembly. You do NOT need power tools to put this bed together. I used only the allen wrench which came with it, and a phillips screwdriver. That's not to say a power drill wouldn't have helped, so if you have one, congrats, but it's not essential. You will be able to get the screws in yourself without one just fine, as the screws are all self-tapping and the wood is just manufactured press board, not solid oak.
You don't need a second person, although it would help in the step where you lift the...

I bought these beds for my boys who are 6 and 10. They had a junior set before and my oldest was just too big for the old beds. The bed components were packaged very well to prevent damage. The quality of the wood is very impressive. I am especially impressed with the slats. They are really nice! The instructions were relatively easy to follow and all of the hardware was nicely labeled. The assembly took approximately three hours with two engineers working nonstop on the project. it would have taken about two hours if we had not experienced complaint #1 (see below). Overall I think these beds are GREAT. For the price I honestly dont think you could get a better set of beds.
I have two complaints which is the reason for the 4 star rating. #1 - They shipped us two bottom footboards instead of one top and one bottom. This isn't a huge deal because the only major differences are the hole pattern in the two pieces and the height. The foot board height is not a problem and actually provides a little more protection on the top bunk. We opted to just drill holes ourself and hope that we did not mess anything up in doing so. This added about an hour to...

MirandaMiranda:
We bought this bunk bed a few weeks ago and we are still talking about how much we love it! We were considering building our own bunk beds as a way to save some money. Then we saw this bunk bed and the incredible price and free shipping. We knew building our own would be a little cheaper but would not look nearly as nice. We were a little concerned that because of the low price that the quality would be very poor. To our delight the quality is great! They look very nice and are very sturdy and secure! I feel completely comfortable letting my kids sleep in these beds as well as myself climbing up top to tuck my kids in.
First of all it arrived earlier than expected. Second, the packaging was incredible! We were amazed at how well protected it was. So we began putting it together. As I saw in an earlier review the instructions are not extensive, there actually aren't any words on the instructions, just diagrams. However, we were able to follow them just fine and had no trouble putting it together. It took my husband and I (along with some help from our 4 and 6 years old boys which probably slowed us down) 3 hours and 15 minutes to put together. And that was...

Andrew Dyer: Good material. Easy to build. No damage to any parts. However, while I thought I was getting a Full over Full, I ended up with a Twin over Twin. While I was willing to make it work, even tho I purchased 2 full mattresses that ended up needing replaced with twins which is a hassle, I find this to be a pretty big mix up, so if you for sure are looking for a Full over Full, I'd make sure to double check what you're actually getting.
