Amazon CustomerLMS: If available, I choose DK Eyewitness every time when travelling. I appreciate the travel snobs like to knock these books and gloat over their Rough Guides and Lonely Planets but let's be honest, there is hardly ever any extra useful content in either + the graphics/illustrations are all but absent. Quite what the point is in a travel guide that doesn't actually give something of a preview of what/where you're travelling to I'll never fully understand. Hey Ho. Great little laminated map in the back too, so that ain't going to fall apart in a hurry. I also like the fact that not only does the layout follow a logical order of travel but there are also separate 'top 10s' (of waterfalls for eg) which give more detailed info if you would like it. There is so much to see and do in this stunning country and this guide really helped me plan to ensure I experienced as much as I could over a fortnight. I'm a big fan!

Meika: I love that this book highlights the top 10 of everything in Iceland. It's a great book if you've never been to Iceland. Pictures are nice to look at. We'll be taking it with us on our upcoming trip.

HMS Warspite: Top Ten guides are intended for travelers looking to hit the highlights, without the grind of doing lots of research. This DK Top Ten guide does that for Iceland. In a compact guide of less than 150 pages, it provides lists of where to go and what to do, nicely broken out by area. It even includes listings within categories, for museums, restaurants, hotels and the like. The text has plenty of color photographs to give a sense of the country. There are lots of small maps for finding your way around Reykjavik and along the primary road network.

Iceland offers lots of opportunities for all-season outdoor recreation, including several spectacular national parks and plenty of primitive/unimproved areas to explore. Coverage for those areas of Iceland are plenty limited. The enterprising traveler seeking to explore them is advised to seek detailed maps and additional climatic information. The maps in this guide are definitely not sufficient for off-road exploring by bike or on foot. Otherwise, well recommended as a planning resource.

Kindle Customer: My daughter surprised me with a trip to iceland for my 50th birthday. Something to tick off my bucket list. I purchased this prior because I didnt just want to see the amazing views I wanted to understand them to know them so when I saw them they had more meaning. This was great, helped me plan what I wanted to see, handy pull out map let me plan driving routes. Pocket sized to keep with me and gave me a really good insight into the fascinating history of the places we visited. My daughter was quite amazed by my knowledge of various sights

HB007: Ideal for our 5 day trip to Iceland (though we only used one section as it's a VAST country to cover in 5 days!). Good source of offline inspiration for the trip. This series of books (and their weatherproof maps) are great to take on holiday and are wonderful value for money.
