Cheryl L. Russell: The lock is sticky; now that we're down to below freezing, I've stopped using because I'm afraid of the lock freezing up.

Also, I don't have a separate trunk, and if I were in a crash, I dread the damage this thing would cause. I wish there were some metal loops I could string a seatbelt through to secure it in the back seat.

But otherwise, I do like it.

CottonCarrie: Easy to apply and remove. We have found it quick to remove and a bit slower to apply as it is a wee bit cumbersome and weighty. However, it feels safe and secure and is very visible, along with the sticker on the driver's side window.

If either one of us is going out alone we just put the device on the passenger side floor...easy to reach when we get home and are not going out again.

Andrew Combes: These units have been sold in the UK for years and in insurance tests, never beaten. I recently had a vehicle stolen in Toronto [a common event these days] and now use this every visit. They are heavy and a bit cumbersome - but that is nothing compared to the hassle of losing your vehicle. Mine does not mark the wheel in any way. Finding somewhere to stow this in a smaller vehicle could be problematic.

The Rays Mostly: I know it isn’t a fool-proof option against car thieves, but it is a big deterrent. Car thieves bypassed my car one night in favor of another car in the same driveway because mine had a Disklok and the other car did not. (Both cars were the same make.)

It is heavy, so my arm gets a bit of a workout when I remove it or put it on. My biggest pet peeve is that the lock occasionally needs two or three tries with the key before it finds that sweet spot and unlocks it.

They estimate you need 3 different deterrents against thieves to keep your vehicle secure. I believe Disklok is an excellent addition to any car owner’s tools to prevent car theft.

Xylo: Very solid piece of gear. A small fits perfectly on a 2021 wrangler’s 15” steering wheel and the locking mechanism is solid and impressive. The disklok spins freely if you try to steer holding only the disklok as advertised. Unfortunately the back of the disklok is completely open and I could easily wrap my fingers around and press against the steering wheel spokes to enable steering. Not as comfortable as normal steering but does not impede steering of the car significantly enough to justify using this device. Maybe it’s different with other vehicles? The disklok looks impressive but in the case of my Jeep Wrangler, it is utterly useless as a security device as a thief could easily drive with it on should they somehow start my car. It’s too bad and I had to return the disklok. If Disklok could somehow close the back and fix this glaring security flaw for my vehicle, I would happily buy and recommend it.

G. Shumway: As advertised and I believe it is enough of a deterrent to warrant the price. Since there’s plenty written about this product online and demonstrated on YouTube, I’ll just address some of the negative things that have been said…

At least one reviewer mentioned that it’s possible to still partially hold the bottom part of the steering wheel (towards the back of the wheel) and still steer the car. I tested it on my car, and that reviewer is correct but only to an extent. You can still steer the car (in the way I mentioned) but you probably couldn’t safely drive more than 5 MPH, your turns would be extremely slow. In other words, you could only do this in an empty parking lot. When you consider the way a thief wants to drive once the car is stolen (fast, rolling fast stops, etc.), I just can’t imagine a thief being able to do this with this device on. If he/she did, it would be slow getaway and either police get them easily or (if you carry a firearm) you could out the tires (just a thought). And they’d have a hard time navigating out of a crowded parking lot or a space parallel parked. Thus, while that reviewer is correct that the wheel can be partially steered,...

Star Man: Need this for one of the most stolen cars. It's strong. And from actual reviews on youtube, probably the top 1 or 2 most difficult to break. That's what i want. Keep in mind, this thing is HEAVY. So you have to carefully install it so you don't go knocking your windshield or bashing your dash or anything. It's heavy pure solid steel. And because of the size, you can't install this while sitting - your legs are in the way. So it is cumbersome. Know what to expect, and if you are still ok, then you're good. I use this in my driveway, not so much out and about, so it's fine. But if you use this while at a mall, think ahead where to store this in your car. It's big and heavy. Medium size fits 5th gen 4Runners perfectly. But get the stretchy steering wheel cover to minimize scratching up your wheel to be on the safe side. Like i said, this is heavy, so keep in mind that weight is pressing on your buttons/controls so the wrap cover helps a bit.

AnnieAnnie: First of all this seller is great! Answers quickly and delivery was fast! My husband got his truck stolen a month ago and he got the disklok for the new F-150. Medium size fits perfectly. It’s easy to put on and remove. I saw a review that said there was a major flaw in the design where thieves could still turn the steering wheel if the held the Disklok and the wheel at the same time. True. The wheel can still turn if they do that but it can’t make a full 360 because of the top lock. If they are in fact able to steel the car and want to make an abrubt turn, they won’t be able to! Also, keep in mind that this is a deterrent and a good one it is! Since this product is not well known in Canada, chances are that thieves will just walk away and choose another vehicule to steel once they see this. I do recommend buying the steering wheel cover before installing. It will protect it from scratches. I definitely recommend this product. It is sturdy and once you get the hang of it, super quick to put on. It is more expensive than your normal anti-theft bar but a couple hundred dollars is worth every penny if you want a little bit of peace of mind...

J: I bought the small size for modified civic that I hardly drive. It was stolen before the purchase of the disklok. It has a good fit on my 90’s civic with stock steering wheel.

Can you still drive the car as another reviewer mentioned? In my case, yes but I wouldn’t do it. Yes, you can drive in a straight line, no problem...but last I checked, roads have turns. You cannot drive a vehicle safely or quickly with the disklok installed properly, which means, a good fit.

Granted, my vehicle doesn’t have power steering so that adds to the difficulty when trying to drive with the disklok in place. I know that a rebuttal may be that a thief won’t care about safety but they do factor in speed.

If you can slow down an amateur, they will most likely move on. A pro, forget it, if they want your car, they are taking it, disklok or not.

So, use common sense and buy the disklok but don’t let it be your only line of defense. I have numerous kill switches, remove the main relay, and park my other vehicle behind the civic to block it in. I know it’s not practical, easy or probably applicable to you but every bit helps.
