Jean Klett: This book is titled Pray Big because most of the book is an explanation of what the Apostle Paul meant in two of his big prayers, Ephesians 1:17-19 and Ephesians 3:16-19.
Regarding the latter, the author in Chapter 7 quotes Philippians 2:5-11 and writes "Christ’s love is measured by contemplating the depth to which he went to secure our and the height to which he was then exalted. . . . . Our knowledge of the love of Christ, in our heads and our hearts, is an experiential knowledge, but it can never be an exhaustive knowledge."
In Chapter 5, Pray for Riches, Alistair Begg quotes Colossians 1:11-12 "be strengthened with all power, according to [God’s] glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light” (Colossians 1 v 11-12). For many years, I thought of inheritance as heaven which I imagined as a place of joy and no suffering. It IS that, but the author gave to me a better understanding when he wrote the following: ". . . . the inheritance is God: God himself. The riches we stand to inherit are what Paul calls in Ephesians 3 v 16 “the riches of his glory.”...

nihilo: Excellent short book on prayer - I would say that none of the material is groundbreaking, but as in all other spiritual disciplines, it's important to get reminded.. And just like other disciplines, it's up to me to implement.. You can read all the books and listen to all the sermons, but ultimately no one can force you to pray..

Dr. C.H.E. Sadaphal: Other than the Bible, there are few books that Christians must read: Alistair Begg’s Pray Big is one of them, in my opinion. This energizing prayer guide exposits Paul’s prayers for his friends in the Ephesians church (Ephesians 1:15-23 and 3:14-21). There, the apostle explains what he is praying for them, and thus he sets the example for us. Unfortunately, modern prayer tends to be unlike the prayers of the New Testament because our focus tends to be internal, earthly and practical. The great truths that are put forward in this book, however, make it plain that based on the Scriptures, our focus ought to be toward God, heaven and eternity.
Pray Big does not prescribe a formula to follow as in, “Pray this to get this.” Rather, the reader learns the apostle Paul prayed big because he believed great things, such as the incomprehensible heights and depths of Christ’s splendor and majesty. Jesus is our King reigning over all heaven and earth, He loved us before the foundation of the world and has already prepared a rich, eternal inheritance for us. With this perspective in mind, our priorities are re-ordered: we consequently pray less about the practical details of...

Hardtop Harry: The author has an easy reading style with a friendly tone . I am glad I bought this book.
The book is very Bible correct. What I mean is there is none of that 'Say this prayer and win a million dollars' rubbish so common in books with titles like Pray Big.
I have read this book three times and will probably read it a couple more before I put it away. There are concepts that I want to put in my prayer life - and my prayers have already changed - that may take a while.
Buy this book. I think you will be glad you did. I am.
