Loonasea: Nice and wide, seems to be a really nice wheel but I would like it better if it had a solid center instead of having a gap inside the wheel where the shaft goes thru. I just like being able to crank on it when installing on the grinder so I know for sure that it's tight and secure.

This is said to be a 1" wide wire wheel for bench grinders. I thought that 1" was a standard width, but apparently "standard" is not as standard as I thought, as I found out when I tried to put it on my Porter-Cable bench grinder. Tightening the nut down left the wheel spinning freely on the axle, which of course means it's not going to be turned by the grinder's motor. This wheel is too narrow, by around 1/16" or 1/8" - just enough to make it totally incompatible with my grinder.
Now you could argue that it's my Porter-Cable that is not standard, and I that is a fair question: which one is the standard, or is there even a standard? But when I put wheels from other vendors on my grinder - for example, a Norton fine grinding wheel - they fit just fine. And maybe the Norton wheel would work on a Dewalt bench grinder, too. The point is, Dewalt COULD have made a wire wheel that would work on my grinder too, just as Norton did, by making it slightly wider where the axle goes through.
So I thought, no problem, I'll just go to the hardware store and get a washer. Well, there were problems.
First, the 5/8"...
