Robert W. Brock: I use these DeWalt wire wheels to help restore old tools - they do a great job of removing rust and paint. I have used other brands but the DeWalt seems better made and more durable. They don’t seem to throw off wire fragments as easily as the other brands - a very important safety consideration.

R W Hyde: I use these for all sorts of metal prep and paint/rust removal during car restorations. They seem to last a very long time, so I always look for them. Yes you should use a face shield when using an aggressive wire wheel like this. I really like a good one like the Lincoln face shield. Please be safe, gloves, long sleeves, face shield and you will get the results you are after. If you are going to paint the surface afterwards, be aware this disk is aggressive, so if you are looking for a glass smooth surface, you will need to prime and sand to get there. This disk will remove material including the metal surface you are cleaning.
