Robert A. Campbell: The unit produces quite uniform and fine (about 1/4") crushed ice. The distance from the input to the grinder is fairly small so it is difficult to get large cubes to drop in. You really have to limit feed to one cube at a time and it is relatively slow. However, if you only want to crush a few cubes, it is fine.

Cathi: 24.99 plus 20.00 s&h & it stopped working almost immediately ! When I contacted the company they couldn't care less. Said I was responsible for s&h charges to ship it back & after inspection might return my 24.99 but I'd be out 40.00 s&h!! What a rip off!!

J. B. Hoyos:
I bought the Deni 6100 Automatic 70-Watt Stainless-Steel Ice Crusher as an accessory for my new Big Boss Torpedo Multi-Purpose 10 in 1 Kitchen Appliance (
Big Boss Torpedo Multi-Purpose 10 in 1 Kitchen Appliance, Black
). I use the Big Boss Torpedo for making fruit juices, smoothies and mixed drinks that require crushed ice. My apartment's refrigerator doesn't produce crushed ice; therefore, I was forced to put ice in Ziploc bags and crush it in the kitchen sink with a hammer. This is a laborious process that is unsafe to me and damaging to the sink. I am very thankful that I bought the Deni 6100. It may crush ice only one cube at a time but it is much quicker, safer and efficient. Also, the Deni 6100 is very attractive and stylish and blends well with the rest of the décor in my kitchen, which was recently remodeled to resemble a Parisian sidewalk café. Most of my appliances, like this ice crusher, are black with silver trim.
My only complaint or concern is that owner must be careful when operating the Deni 6100 Ice Crusher. I recommend that the user place the ice on the trapdoor, push down the lever and then step back...

ChrisP: I love munching ice, and love this little ice crusher. Our fridge has an ice maker, but no crusher. I rent, so I can't change the fridge. This is the perfect solution. It's small enough that I can leave it on the counter without sacrificing too much counter space, similar in size to an electric can opener. I've had it for about a month and a half, so far no evidence of rust or metal shavings in my ice, as I've seen mentioned in other reviews. It's the perfect granularity for mixed drinks, and pretty awesome in iced tea, too. It's very loud, but I expect it to be, so no dings for that. The ice will pop out of the top as you're dropping it in, if you're not really quick with the "trap door" where ice is inserted. A good technique I've found is to place 2 half-moon pieces of ice (would probably only have room for 1 standard tray cube) on top of the door and cover the ice with my hand. I then quickly pop open the door with my free hand, while the machine is running, and any fragments that try to pop back up won't go anywhere. Doing it this way, I can crush ice as fast as I can possibly place a fresh pair of ice cubes over the door and pop the hatch open. One...

D. Heatherly:
This is a very good product for the price and would have earned a 5-star rating from me, but the crushed ice it produces is not really the right size for anything (at least not for what I wanted). The pieces are generally about quarter-inch thick and range from a quarter-inch to a half-inch in length -- not fine enough for "snow cone" type ice, yet too small to serve as crushed ice in a drink (the pieces melt quickly and water down the drink).
That said, the product itself is good. The unit is about 11 inches high and looks nice on the counter, the motor is quiet, I can crush six to eight crescent-shaped cubes at once in a matter of seconds, and there's no mess. Again, the only problem is the result.
Actually, this may work for "slushie" style drinks made from a concentrate (where one can reduce the amount of water added to allow for the crushed ice that's going to melt immediately). So if that's your intent...
The instruction booklet states that it will crush 14 oz. of ice per minute, and that seems accurate.
One other note: The instructions clearly advise turning the motor on, letting it run a few seconds, then pushing cubes one...
