David W.: What's to say? You either need this because your faucet is leaking or you don't. This was a genuine part so it fit perfectly. It's always worth going with the delta products on the delta faucets instead of the knock offs. Get the RP4993 gasket/spring kit too while you're at it. Put silicon grease in it too!
5 minute fix and no more drips.

Glenn: When I order for the brand, I want it to be the brand. This was a true Delta part. The only difference was the original had a black colored base, and the new one had a clear colored base, which has/had no functional differences that I know of. The stem is/was brass and not plastic. You can buy the part with the 1/4 turn insert (RP25513) if you feel you have the need to, but the insert is reusable.
The reason to replace the whole valve stem assembly is that there are O-ring seals that wear, shrink, become hard, and deteriorate over time. Additionally, the rubber seats that rub on the bottom surface can become hard enough over time and cause wear on the face of the bottom valve surface. The cost of the valve overrules trying to save money and having leaks.
Also, always replace the rubber seat and metal spring under the valve as well as the whole valve. Never use metal objects to push the seat and spring; use your finger to gently push the seat and spring into position.

Matt Hilton: This is an identical Delta replacement. As others have stated the only difference between this part (RP24096) and the RP25513 is the included 1/4 stop. If you have your original part, you don't need the slightly more expensive RP25513 because the 1/4 stop can be salvaged from your existing one. The stop is not something that wears out, so don't pay $3 for it, unless you lost your original one.
Tip: If water is collecting underneath the handle, your problem is with the stem. If you have an actual drip from the faucet, the seat/spring is the the problem. There's no need to replace the stem for a drip. However, since seats/springs are cheap and somewhat delicate, if you have to replace the stem (due to water collecting under the handle), you might as well replace the seats/springs while you're at it. Just ensure the seat is oriented correctly and flat within the recess in which it resides. If it sits crooked, you WILL have a drip and you'll likely tear or shear the rubber seat thus necessitating a new seat.
If you have a Delta faucet (why are you reading this if you don't?) I highly recommend you keep at least one stem assembly and 2 seat/spring pairs on backup. You'll...
