Adena Cahill: This book makes you excited about cooking! And it gives you really clear steps all the way along. I'd say the layout confused me a bit, but it may be because I have the kindle edition.
I have a ton of jellied stock in my freezer now, and I can't wait to make more delicious XLB (our favourites, I couldn't believe we made them in our own kitchen!), as well as try out some other treats in here. The dough recipes were surprisingly easier than I thought too.
Time to try the Char siu bao next!

Shorty McAwesome: I purchased this cookbook for my wife at Christmas. My wife and I are serious cooks and have been very disappointed with the two dumpling recipes we’ve made. The ratios are all off and the dishes were bland after we cooked them. I’m wondering who left all these five star reviews because this is not a good cookbook.
For example, tonight we made the weeknight veggie goyza dumplings. The ratio of filling to wrapper is nuts. We added the 700g of cabbage as the recipe calls for, and there is so much filling left over that I will turn it into a salad tomorrow for lunch. You’d be fine with 350g without much left over. Second, they were greasy.
Yes, dumplings require practice, especially cooking them. One might have questions about recipe methods. Such as browning the dumplings, then steaming them, and then browning them again. Yes, those steps are important for a proper pan seared dumpling. Yet I found the method frustrating when they say to add about a centimeter of boiling water to the pan, cover and let gently simmer. Okay, my pan was set to medium heat, I’ve just added boiling water, hot oil spatters everywhere (expected that), but there’s no gentle simmer....

C. Winkler: As a white man embracing my whiteness, I love buying cook books by white chefs who culturally appropriate other peoples foods, and make them better. Here is a collection of some of the best noodle and dumplings in one cook book & I can't wait to make every recipe!

Dan Pamintuan: I bought this after seeing the stir-up from a non Asian writing an Asian cookbook. My mom is American, my dad Pinoy. My mom cooks great Filipino food, better than most natives.
The book is easy to follow and once you have the basics down, as far as dumpling dough or noodles, then you're free to experiment with different fillings and tastes. The recipes she has written look great. I will try those first and then try some Pinoy fillings.

Amazon Customer: First all of the recipes are delicious and so easy but that’s not even why I love this cookbook. I am not normally a cookbook person because you never have what you need and you have to buy a million things for each recipe and it’s frustrating so you never actually make anything. With this book you get a list of 6 or 7 things to get and that makes 90% of every recipe! It is the ONLY cookbook I keep out on my counter because I use it so much. I just pre-ordered her next one and I can’t wait for it to come!! Oh and the chili oil is 🔥 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Kindle CustomerKindle Customer: this book is a great guide to make all your favorites from scratch (or if you just want the recipes, the author provides alternatives for making the noodles/dumplings from scratch) with helpful photos to demonstrate the more technical parts. it’s approachable for a beginner home cook as long as the passion and patience is there. this book is something where on my first try, everything was delicious, but i know after practicing that I will be able to get the full potential of the dish, so if you are a cook who is looking to improve their technique, this is a great way to learn. most importantly, everything I have made from the book is positively chock full of flavor in every bite! if it’s not for you, it makes a great gift for the far eastern food enthusiast in your life.

Just Another Girl: If you are a beginner and want to try your hand at making dumplings and noodles, this is the book you need to get.
Pippa, has written the book in a user friendly way. She has sectioned it and it's easy to follow along. I believe she has shared a lot of information on noodles and dumplings. There are not many books that teach you how to make noodles from scratch and this book does that. So, basically the book is divided in 5 sections:
1. Basics and pantry essentials to get you started on this delicious journey
2. Lot of dumplings and Bao's
3. 4-5 different noodle varieties that you can learn to make from scratch
4. Dishes, like Ramen, Biang Biang, Tantanmen and likes, you can attempt to make at home using the fresh noodles
5. Condiments, oils, sauces (ooo drool) - this is an essential part of Asian cuisine
All in all it's a pretty yummy book (literally you would want to eat the book)🎉
