Lou Dechant: At one point this was probably a sturdy metal unit but the modern manufacturing version is cheap, flimsy injection modded parts barely stuck together. The first thing I did to mine was s3cure it in all four axis with baling wire so it wouldn’t keep falling to pieces as I tried to connect the dryer hoses. Also in the picture it looks like it comes with hose clamps but in reality it is two zap straps, not even very thick ones, that broke before they could be tightened enough to do their jobs.
Considering the price point versus what you get I would put the profit margin in the 5000 - 8000% range. Prolly costs pennie’s to make. Once I had heavily modified and reinforced mine, and added proper hose clamps, it did the job as advertised, but it really is a piece of crap. We’ll see how it holds up over time. If you can find one made of tin, I’d go for that instead.
I still gave this 3 stars though because as crappy as it is, it does work.

Danny Mat': After reading the other reviews, I knew I had to make mechanical upgrades to get the performance I wanted. I did. I love it in my unfinished cold basement. No over moistureization that I feared. Could use more.
I was VERY fortunate that I could use a downspout self tapping screw to firmly attach this to my dryer’s 4” vent system to the vent PIPE that was in place. Just had to force slide it in with a little lubricant.
Second I did what someone recommended and used foul duct tape to reinforce the top portion to the bottom.
I used 2 downspout screws to attach the flex tube to the Deflecto. I bunched several of the wire rings under the screws to make they were solidly connected.
The flap and filter screen are flimsy. I sprayed silicon lube at the slide and pivot points.
My set up will last years of use.
Had to implement one procedure to avoid a good dose of fine dust being poofed into my face each dryer startup. I close the flapper BEFORE starting the dryer. The fines shoot outside. 1 second later I open the flap to get a soft, warm, moist, sweet smelling (dryer sheet) breeze glow across my ruggedly handsome, chiseled face.
I love...

David A. Corral: While I had my reservations about this, it seems to work well. I clean the lint out after every load (probably 40 loads by now) and have had no issues whatsoever with the tabs breaking off. Just slide it down gently and it works fine. I have not had to tape it or anything like that so far. I think the lint buildup is an indication of how good your dryer lint catcher works and I think mine sucks. But the heat is a great addition to our mud room that is typically 5-7 degrees cooler than the rest of the house. The humidity for the first 10 minutes is an interesting by product and helps to get moisture back into the house.

bWeber: Decent product but you will need to use better hose clamps. Nice to add heat and humidity in my basement. I might have rated it a 5 with good clamps.

Amazon4Life: Pros:
1) Easy to install
2) Redirects heat/humidity into the house
3) Not expensive
Cons:
1) The filter is not very fine so dryer dust blows everywhere. Attaching pantyhose to the front of teh filter helps reduce dust but not 100%, so you will have fine dust everywhere.
2) The zip ties barely hold the thing to the vent tube so if you don't tape it with duct tape, it will fall off every time you touch it and you will go crazy. (but duct tape works fine).
3) You have to clean the filter pretty much every load, so if you installed it up high or behind the drier or in some other inconvenient place you will be kicking yourself. It is not hard to remove and clean the filer (after duct taping it together, or course), but if you installed it out of the way it will be a pain.
Overall: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. This works with some MacGyver fixes, but if you don't like fiddling with things or you don't have an accessible place to install it then you probably should look elsewhere.

DaleDale: This thing works great if you want free heat! I have a 70 year old house with laundry in an unfinished basement. I don't see the point in blowing hot air out of the house when it's 20 degrees out and it's cold in the house. The thing about this device is that you have to secure it to a wall or something because it's very lightweight and you can't even open the front screen to clean lint from it unless it's fastened securely to something. I don't accumulate a lot of lint in it, but clean it after every dryer load anyway or it does block more hot air from being released. What I did was fasten my dryer tube to each end of the device and then used LARGE plastic wire ties to secure this device to a vertical board that was already nailed to the wall behind my dryer. I also used a small piece of wire to keep the vent in the "bypass" position so heat would always be directed in the house through the winter. Without the wire, the flap wanted to open on its own and heat would go outside again. When you add a new load of laundry to the dryer, there is some moisture/humidity that goes into the house, but that's fine during winter months when things are very dry. Our old house has cast iron...

The Irish Patient: Only downsides are that the plastic is bit flimsy, and some hot air always leaks into the basement. The hot air is not appreciated during the summer.
