Forester Ed: For a home garden in deep south Texas. Starting seeds early as this is zone9-10.

Klssmsr8405Klssmsr8405: Ok, first of all, I got these seeds last year and it was my first time even attempting a vegetable garden. I live in south Texas outside the Austin area for reference.
I started these indoors (January) with a heating mat (from Lowe's) and covered cells with small holes for ventilation. I sprayed them with a water bottle daily and also used a grow light (nothing fancy, think I got it for 20 some dollars here on amazon and it clips to my desk). As they grew bigger I moved them to larger nursery pots when necessary
and as it got warmer moved them outside to integrate them to the environment and then permanently planted them in my raised bed mid April after Easter. They EXPLODED!! I couldn't tell you how many tomatoes I got...hundreds and hundreds! Their flavor was so sweet and so delicious, great for salads or just snacking. I am so so happy and impressed with them! I'm definitely planting them again this year! This is the cherry tomato you want!
Oh and as far as germination goes. I planted 12 seeds, which I got 9 strong plants from. I kept 5 for myself and gave 4 away.

sinophil: We moved to this house 2 years ago and finally settled down and fixed up our yard with 2 new planters. This tomato plant is our first attempt at growing our own vegetables. My wife first sprouted some seeds in several small plastic cups. Our planter is quite large - approx 12X4 feet - so we planted 4 plants out of the seedlings. The rest we gave to my daughter and to our neighbors.
Beware, these plants grew enormously and were all tangled up. So large that when one side got too heavy, two of the plants toppled over from the weight. We have gotten tomatoes by the thousands. My wife made several freezer bags-full of yellow tomato sauce. We are eating tomatoes every day. And when the tomato is ripe, it is sweet enough to eat like a dessert fruit. Since these are cherry tomatoes, I eat several every time I snack on them.
We definitely will get the same seeds next year, but maybe plant only 3 seedlings. And buy sturdier tomato trellises that won't topple over.

MuchosPoptartos: I've never really liked cherry tomatoes because the plants always turned out terrible and small and they didn't even taste good. I probably sucked at growing them altogether, but that's besides the point.
And then one year I tried sun golds. It was because when I was in the garden section at home depot picking out which tomatoes to buy for the summer, a random lady told me about them. At first I was like, "but they're orange!" I shrugged my shoulders and got one little seedling, but still got all the rest of the usual other types of tomatoes that i usually get.
Fast forward to that summer, I wish I could thank the anonymous lady that suggested these to me, because omg these are the sweetest tomatoes ever. THE BEST!
I've now been growing them for 12 years. No other cherry tomato even touches these hands. I scoff at any other cherry tomato plants that I see. What a tomato snob! Well, don't judge me too hard because you will be too if you ever try these.
Fast forward AGAIN to this spring..... It's the height of the covid19 pandemic. It's time to plant stuff in the ground but I can't go to the store to get any plants!!!! I"m not waiting in line outside home...
