José Eduardo: I liked the book very much! I highly recommend to all students interested in learning stats. I had no knowledge of this material before but book made it so easy to understand with stories and quite funny examples! Try it out! Piece a bit expensive for my budget though

srikanth: If you are new, like you don't know what is STATISTICS. Buying this book will be benificial.this book mostly on theory to understand statistics and how it is used in real world.Remember that there will be no complex find X things are present in it. I liked it because I solved only problems in schools and don't know what is statistics really is.

Random Colege Student (I write honest reviews, but I am not an expert so please read my reviews as personal experience.): The textbook was pretty easy to read and understandable. The book relies heavily on diagrams, so it is a little easier for visual learners to read. The book is printed in black and white so it loses points there. I think it's a good book to read if you want to rush through Statistics. The presentation of formulas isn't that great, but if you read the textbook carefully you should be able to understand most of them in an instant.
There are not many practice questions (maybe 30 questions for each chapter at most), so if you learn by constant practice this book may not be for you.

Connie Tang: I am a practising engineer currently taking postgraduate course in Applied Statistics. This book is perhaps the best I've on statistics for several reasons:
1. The author arranged the concepts in a way which helps to build my understanding gradually. Important concepts and fundamentals get highlighted and are easy to refer.
2. The reading is effortless as the writing style is straightforward. You don't even need to have science background to understand.
3. The examples given can be easily replicated, e.g., dice tossing and drawing cards from a box. For any reader who understands better from practical works, this is great.
Perhaps the 3 points above are common in many books, but I particularly appreciate them because my university is using a textbook from the U.S. which has too many jargons and felt like ideas are being forced down my throat. There aren't much explanation on the fundamentals. I took this as a norm since many engineering textbooks are written this way as well. This book is so effortless that I can go back to it multiple times to re-cap some important basics.

shivendra sharma: This is a classic statistics manual that has been under print since the 1970s. Its fully comprehensive and covers almost every basic concept with great length and detail. For beginners, this is fully recommended while experienced/active statisticians too will find this to be equally helpful. Although I do believe that there are some printing mistakes and the authors could have provided some examples that cold relate to statistics of the modern world in view of the large amounts of data that is being generated now-a-days. But except that small little opinion, the book is a must have!

SA: It's a very comprehensive (for beginner's) and well written book. However it is targeted for a very nonmathematical audience. The authors go to great lengths to limit the use of equations. While I understand some might prefer that, I think sometimes it distracts the reader from having a crystal clear picture of the dynamics. We are after all trying to analyse numbers. That said, the authors take great care in introducing other nonmathematical visualisation tools like scatter plots. This is very instructive indeed.

Mark Lee: I'm not a "math person," and was compelled to take an Introductory Statistics course as the final math class toward my BA. I approached the course with preconceptions after hearing horror stories from other humanities folks about failure, shipwreck, plagues of locusts, and thoughts of suicide.
This is one of the top half-dozen texts of my entire college career.
Not only do the authors make statistics accessible and even fun, they do so in a consistently smart style that simultaneously simplifies statistical concepts while not pandering in the quality of language overall, or occasions for clever asides. While many professors will end up using modern calculators for the problems, the text bases its lessons on the use of tables (normal, t, and chi-square). I found myself following both the professor and, electively, the text for a more full understanding of "old school" methods. Each chapter has enough embedded problems (with answers at the end of the text) that the reviews and other materials provided by my professor were often redundant. I wish I had access to the answers for each chapter review questions, but that can hardly be a criticism in my "student" copy of the...

Greg LGreg L: Advertised as new but came in an opened wrapping. Seems like the book was slid back into the plastic, wasn't even partially sealed. Looks like it was actually either lightly used or moderately beat up in the warehouse.
Pages have varying print quality, lots of fading and ink stains throughout the entire book.
Was really cheap (on sale when I bought it) but very low quality. Not a bad textbook for the price, but doesn't seem as advertised.
