STL: I have been buying these filters for years and after enough use they usually start leaking and I have to replace them. Culligan has reengineered the case and I anticipate this will last much longer than the old ones.

M. Ellen C.M. Ellen C.: I have an outside fuel oil tank that has water and crud building up for years and giving my furnace and filter a challenge. I decided to McGyver a pump and a couple filters to "clean" the tank. This filter was the pre-filter prior to a water separating filter and then back into the tank. Setup worked beautifully and as you can see, got a lot of black sludge off the bottom of the tank to the nice pink stuff on the last filter. I went through 3 filter inserts before it was done. The filter was perfect because it came with the frame and filter medium all together. With easy ordering, additional filters were just click and a truck visit away! It did the job for me, but then again not really as it was intended to be used. Can you call it a whole fuel tank filter instead of a whole house filter?

T. Vex: I purchased two of these clear filter housings to replace existing similar units installed on either side of my water softener. One of the previous units failed catastrophically, cracking around the circumference just below the female threads. Fortunately everything was installed in the garage, and we were home to spot the gushing leak, so water damage was minimal. These units seem well made, and I like the pressure vent and how the double o-ring seals are mounted on the periphery of the head, rather than in a groove in the top of the housing. This requires less torque to get a water-tight seal, which means less effort to unscrew the housing for changing filters. Hopefully this also means less stress on the housing too.

This is the important thing to know: Apparently the clear polycarbonate housings have a finite life expectancy; the included instructions warn the threaded housings should be replaced every five years! Yes, they are great for evaluating when filter cartridges need to be replaced, or knowing if your softener resin screen starts leaking (thus the downstream filter - trust me, you do NOT want all your home water lines filled with resin!!)....

Bob: Easy to install. Remember to install ball valves at the inlet and outlet to have an effortless filter changing process. Purchase high quality filters.

Lupillo Medina: Es un exclente portafiltro lo recomiendo, cumple muy bien con su funcion y es facilmde instalar, el unico pero quenle.encuentro es que no incluya la base para fijarlos y no hay en existencia. Pero cumple.connsu funcion y no le afecta solo haybque tener ingenio.
