Claire: I really like that this food processor is low enough to sit under the cupboards on the countertop but the container is big enough for bigger amounts. The buttons are easy to use and it makes quick work of processing. It's also quite quiet for a food processor. I gave it a 4 for ease of use, as when you use the slicing or grating blades, the ends fall over and they just sit on top of the blade or eventually fall into the container in whole pieces, but only a few. For me, I'll probably still slice vegetables by hand. I did shred a large amount of zucchini and it worked great for that but again the small ends fall over and they don't get properly grated; either fall into the container or just sit on top of the blade, but I just easily picked them out at the end. I made some salad dressing and it worked beautifully for that. I bought this mostly to do large amounts of grating or processing sauces, salad dressings, etc. I'm happy with it!

Gary: I read reviews for other Elemental 8's. Mine is a FP-8 no other numbers or letters, just FP-8, so I think it may be an older model. Anyway, I usually read the negative reviews first to see if there is the same problem over a number of years. I have to say this processor worked perfectly right out of the box. There is nothing fancy, no fancy lids that have catches you have to use to close it, no timers, no extra stuff to break. It has a chopping blade and the bottom blade is close to the bottom. If you read the instructions, it will tell you, if your chopping onions, green peppers other vegetables like these to push the pulse button 10 times. If you run it and don't pulse it you will have almost liquid. I made salsa, 2 green, 2 red peppers, some hatch peppers, some seranno peppers, 3 large onions, 8 lbs of tomato's, and a bunch of other ingredients, all through this processor. I love it, I am so happy with it that I have figured out that, except for a factory defect which will happen, the customer just has to be smarter than the processor. This model the Elemental 8 is to easy to use, so intuitive and only a bowl, a chopper and some graters and slicers, a top, and...

Kannon30:
On the second try using this unit, it fails to turn on. I've only cut up cauliflower in it, so it definitely wasn't anything strenuous. After looking at the bottom of the container portion, some plastic pieces have broken off, making this thing unusable. I have contacted Kitchen Aid for warranty service, but I'm frustrated that it didn't even last two tries in.
My advice: look for another brand. My wife and I received this for a wedding gift, but Kitchen Aid product have been really dropping in reliability as of these past few years. This will be my last Kitchen Aid investment.
