G.G.Rover: We upgraded our wifi router but the older laptops internal network adapter would not show the new wifi signals. It claimed to have latest driver for the bios version it was running. Being an older laptop, I chose this product rather than wasting more time trying to update the laptop and the risk of bricking it or running into other problems. This laptop has a cdrom drive, so was able to use the included disc to install the new driver and was up and running again in no time.

Dan: I have an old HP laptop I use at work with a single channel wifi card that can only connect to 2.4GHz wifi.
Unfortunately our work wifi is dreadfully slow on that band, but a 5GHz band is available.
I bought this little guy and while not exactly plug and play, I had it up and running in about 5 minutes.
It comes with a little 3"? CD that contains the necessary drivers, so hopefully your laptop has a disc drive. I put that disc in and ran the setup. Once that was done, I plugged in the wifi dongle to the USB port and it was detected immediately.
From there I selected the wifi I wanted to connect to and entered the access password and I was off to the races.
On the old 2.4GHz band I was seeing between 22- 40mbps.
I am now seeing in excess of 350-433mbps.
Definitely a vast improvement.

Mitzi M.Mitzi M.: Had to get this as my desktop would not detect the new Spectr. router. I was about ready to dump the computer, since we hardly ever use it. Computer did not open the .exe file after intserting CD, so I had to poke around the computer to find how to get the installation going. Once it installed I followed the directions on the insert and it went smoothly. Connected PC to home network. Router is in the den/office and so is the computer so no issues with distance.

PHamplet: I installed on Ubuntu based distro with 5.4 kernel. The original install script did not work, so I went to the website and downloaded the latest version of the driver and script. This script worked after i added the NoPrompt argument to the command: sudo sh install-driver.sh NoPrompt
Once the driver was installed the product worked great. I went from ~20Mbps download to ~140Mbps download.
Satisfied with the product once installed.

Rockstar: My relatively new laptop stopped recognizing any WIFI signal at all, just out of warranty. I went to youtube and performed all the suggestions to try to make it work without any luck (I now suspect something wrong with the internal WIFI antenna). My laptop sat without much use for months. I was about to take it in for repair until I found that this USB WIFI dongle exists (and for only about $12+) . It was easy to install. I used the CD ROM provided with a USB external drive to install the driver as per given instructions (there is also an option to download the driver from the internet, but I would have had to have another working computer). It was only a 3to4 easy step process and my WIFI is now working as well as before. I can even stream HD video as well as before. I'm sure repairing it would have cost much more. Only downside I see is that I have one less USB port open now.
