edhch: This works okay as a motion sensor light. It is not as bright as some LED solar lights. The panels do not adjust if you mount it on a vertical item, like a fence board. You can only make the lights face outward and maybe down. Because of how it is designed, once you mount it onto the hanging bracket, its adjustability is severely hampered by the requirement to keep the solar panels horizontal.

If you just want a light to come on when someone trips the sensors, it works okay. Animals or people will make it come on. Just remember that if you mount it to a vertical board, you won't be able to adjust the light panels downward.

Betty: When the solar panel is in the presence of light ( any light light even dim light ) they are in charging mode and the mode selection on the remote control will not respond. If you want to test them in the prescense of light, cover the solar panel first. I use a small piece of cardboard that I tore off the back of a writing tablet. Follow the instruction and charge it in full sunlight for eight hours first. Also if you're wondering about the range of the remote I'm getting about twenty five feet. My house is twenty five feet wide wall to wall. It works within that range, however the farther away you are the more dead on you have to be with your aim. I haven't tested it beyond that. I just got these and this is in no way a full review. Just a few pieces of information that may help you in making your decision.

Big-G: The media could not be loaded.  I bought these solar lights to help provide some security around my house at night. I was very impressed with the brightness of the lights. The unit has a good sized solar panel mounted over a "stationary" main light. Attached to each side of the main light is a smaller light which is position adjustable to allow for coverage of a larger area. I was able to use one of these as a work light to complete a carpentry project outside of my garage. I mounted mine along the top of my wooden fence (about 6' high) to cover my back yard. The motion sensor seemed to work fairly well within a 30 degree angle up to about 20ft. Additional height may enhance the distance.

It comes with an IR remote to set the mode and intensity. There was only one remote for the two units. The remote can only work with one unit at a time and you have to be reasonably close to the lights to engage. I had to stand within 10ft to get the remote to work. This may be a problem if you plant to mount the lights more than 14-16ft high. I would prefer to have spent a little more to have bluetooth control capability from my phone so I don't have to keep up with another...
