Kathleen: I’ve read reviews where so many people don’t like. This is not a coffee although you brew it like that. It’s an excellent choice for relaxing hot cocoa. It looks light but is rich in flavor. Add a little coffee creamer to it and it’s delicious. Hazelnut creamer is great with it. You can even add a dollop of whipped cream on top if you like. I also drink it iced. It’s definitely a reorder for me. Not full of calories if you just add a little bit of creamer as is a hot cocoa which is full of sugar.

glen: Great product! Terrible shipping logistics... I brew half coffee and half roasted cocao and it makes the most delicious brew I've ever tasted. I buy the 3lb bag and go through it pretty quick. When I put an order in, it could be a mo th before I see the product. Would love it if they fixed the shipping issues.

Ace: There is a puncture hole in the package and I could feel grit on the outside of the bag. There doesn't seem to be a whole in the envelope in which it was sent, but there's a hole in the package. Clearly it's not safe to use but this item doesn't qualify for a return. That said, thank you to Crio Bru for taking care of it.

Anonymous1245: I had a chance to try this flavor and others last year at the Christmas market. This was my favorite.

I've purchased a few small bags before this one but they seem to go empty too quick. Spending $100 on a bag of roasted cocoa seemed like an awful lot.
Compared to the small bags, the price for the large bag is much cheaper though, but it is a big chunk of money to spend at once. But it also lasts much longer, and compared to a box of kcups at Costco, I think I spend much less per month in the end.
I bought this bag on June 1st, and now we're almost in October and I'm still only near the halfway mark (I drink 2 scoops every day).

I'm not a fan of straight coffee but also don't want to drink a doctored version with too much sugar or syrup to make it palatable every day. This was perfect for me because it tastes chocolatey and is only filled with good things and 0 calories. I like the stronger flavor of this roast compared to the lighter roasts which weren't chocolatey enough for me.

Because we no longer have a normal coffee maker, I put my grounds into an empty tea bag (purchased separately) and let it steep in hot water in my mug for a while. It takes...

Claire R Naegle: *read to the end* I first brewed as directed in french press and it was more like a tea than a rich dark coffee like drink. Smell was very rich a chocoley, but the flavor was weak. I did notice a mild stimulant effect that takes the edge off of the coffee withdrawal!
2nd time I made it, after letting the grounds brew a while, I poured the whole thing (grounds and all) into my vitamix and liquified the grounds into the water, now THIS was totally different, very rich and flavorful! And even more of that mild stimulant effect, barely missed the coffee!
So I recommend using a high power blender rather than straining the grounds out as you would coffee.

Madison: ORIGINAL REVIEW: I like this product! 4 instead of 5 because it’s a bit pricey for the amount. Sometimes I do half crio and half high quality cocoa powder to get a stronger taste and to make it go farther. I liked it the first time I tried it but it also grows on you :)
UPDATE: I can't believe the price hike! Who more than doubles their already high prices overnight? I found this product from a facebook ad, and I guess they spent too much on marketing and they are trying to make up for it. The same size organic dutch cocoa is less than half the price. I will not be re-buying at this cost. Since I got used to the taste and I quite liked it as a nice alternative to coffee, I will start using cocoa powder mixed with hot water or cold milk. I guess thank you Criobrew for making me realize that this is good :) I guess I could even 'roast' it for that missing coffee-like taste the same way I would roast almonds. If you are like me and coffee gives you acid reflex, Splurge on Dutch cocoa. It's PH balanced and much cheaper than this. I was a bit surprised at the size, for a reference it's about half of the size of a pound of Starbucks coffee, so about 4x as expensive. Tastes good...
