K.B.: If you don't want to go out and purchase the items in this kit individually, then it's a good start out kit.
The stencils, is literally a printed sheet of paper that you put over top of tracing paper to leave a mark on the wood. You can even print your own stuff and use a tracing paper for that.
Pencil crayons are just normal pencil crayons.
If you're on a budget, get the woodburning gun on it's own, head over to your dollar store and check out the arts and craft sections for wooden pieces and stencils. It will be much more cost effective and basically the same idea.

Made in the USA: Non sono stata sodisfatta del prezzo elevato per questo prodotto (pensavo che la qualità sarebbe stato migliore per il prezzo) e soprattutto per il fatto che ha la presa americana (non c'era scritto a nessuna parte, è stata una brutta sorpresa). Ho guardato su Amazon USA e questo prodotto lì costa meno della metà. Questo spiega benissimo il pessimo rapporto qualità/prezzo qua dove ho speso due volte tanto. Non lo consiglio.

DustOffUH1DustOffUH1: I'm a first time novice wood burner. I found this kit as a great start to get into the hobby. Instructions and patterns are included which is great. The handle does get hot so that takes a little getting used to. I also ordered the Walnut Hollow variable temperature wood burner at the same time. Right into the project, that burner got seriously miss-threaded. Amazon has since replaced it. I'm using that one so far on my second project. So, I used the wood burner that came with this kit for the majority of my first project. It worked fine, and has the basic tips. I enjoyed it so much, I'm definitely going to continue on with this hobby. For me its a great deal of fun and very relaxing. If you're looking to get started in wood burning, I would recommend this kit, especially for the price. When I can afford it, if ever, I'll buy a professional wood burner. But for now. I'm very happy with my first results. Like anything I've tried to tackle, practice and patience is the key. Attached is a photo of my first finished project, using one of the patterns included. Anon: This kit has been well used since I bought it for my boyfriend's birthday. He liked that it came with everything you needed to start. This is something I recommend buying if you are just starting out. There have been no complaints about the tool itself, it seems to work great and he uses it for several hours at a time, twice or more a week. The tracing paper it came with is different slightly then the one at our local craft store, one tracing paper leaves darker lines and the other leaves lighter lines, so you might want to test out the tracing paper before you use it on wood, though he had no problems with either, apparently just different benefits, depending what you are working on. I can't say much for the color pencils, and the sampling drawings it comes with I guess are okay, a small variety of difficultly, but my boyfriend can draw fairly well, and after the first one, he has never used the samples again. All and all this product gets plenty of use and made him delightfully happy when I bought it for him, he was surprised all it came with.

J. Bussio: I rarely write reviews but this was a great value. This works very well. It comes with different tips that all function perfectly. I was able to use both wooden plates included for Christmas gifts. It came quickly and was packaged nicely. Tool and accessories exceeded my expectations and I am considering buying a second for myself (so that I can use more than one tip at a time for big projects) and another as a gift. I highly recommend this. I was surprised at the quality for the price and how much you get.

WhitneyWhitney: I'm a beginner at wood burning and this kit worked great. I can also say that I think it would be great for an advanced user as well. It has everything you need to get started. I especially love the interchangeable tips. It allows you to get as creative as you want. I also like the colored pencils it came with. If you want to just add a bit of color, they are great. I recommend getting some paints for larger areas of color or if you want them darker.

KMKM: I love these kits. They come with a nice selection of bits, and a couple of plaques to work on, as well as some tracing paper, patterns, and pencils.

I've had a wood-burner for decades, and loved it. I had my nephew over for a week last summer, and showed him how to use it. He seemed to like it, so I got him one for Christmas. I liked the features of this one better than the old one I had, so I got one for me, too. The shut off switch is a very nice feature, and spares me plugging and unplugging the tool all the time, as these things do get quite hot after a while, and need to cool down often.

Walnut Hollow was the maker of my old tool, and it's lasted for at least 20 yrs, so I trusted the brand. I've used it several times since Christmas, and it's worked as expected. All the bits and instructions are perfect for someone who's never tried it before, and doesn't know where to begin. This is a great bargain, and has everything you need, right out of the box.

Wood burning is a fun, and easy pass time. If you're giving it to a kid, then I'd get two, and be sure you're with them when they use it. If over 15, then a bit of supervision/instruction...
