Tae Kim: I got like 20 opae ulas and they have to live in brackish water. I bought this to measure the level of salt i guess. you put the salt in water and just dunk the device in there to measure it. EASY

Alex: I decided to get this to use instead of my Refractometer as I hoped i could just mark the spot that is actually 1.026 on it and do quick tests without having to calibrate. After testing with my calibrated Refractometer. 1.026 water reads as 1cm above the max salinity line of 1.032 on this thing. Completely useless unfortunately. This thing can cause you to kill everything in your tank if you don’t have calibrated solution or something to compare it with. Do not rely on it alone.

Wile E. Coyote: I know how to use hydrometers. I know to get the bubbles off before reading. This device is way off. Mine is reading way higher than my old hydrometer and my refractometer.
The instructions say it has been calibrated at the factory. But when I fill it with fresh water it reads way over 1.000. The instructions also say to season the needle by soaking it in salt water. I’ve done that for three days and the needle hasn’t moved.
I am certain my refractometer and old hydrometer are correct as they are both reading 1.024. If this new hydrometer were correct, at 1.03+, my fish would all be dead.
On the plus side, this device is much easier to read than the older hydrometers. The use of the sponge on the intake to prevent bubbles is clever too.
But this device is so inaccurate it’s useless.

Tabby: Followed the instruction, but meter is not functioning properly. Tap water will display a higher value than salt water.

ElvinV: That hydrometer is not even working. I did the initial " seasoning" as mentioned on the back of the package, but no matter how much salt or RO fresh water I add the needle stays completely on top at the maximum level..

Edward Hatcher: used this for testing my salwater, reading were way off, this was the only tester i had. trusting it is a big mistake, i cycled my tank added 500 dollars of fish and they all died the next day, had the local fish store test my water and the salinity was way too low, i bought a refractor. works perfect. Save your self some money and headaches, spend the extra money and get a refractor or digital reader. this product is a waste of money they should stop selling it.
