Adam Eff: Nice gadget for the money. But, if you are buying this to monitor your pool, be advised you will be reaching the upper limit for salt concentration at just the fifth bar from the bottom of the scale. That is 1.005 specific gravity or 6.8 parts per thousand which is 6800 parts per million. Around 4500 PPM is the reccommended ceiling for saltwater pools. It works, but all your action will be in the bottom 5% of the scale.
Do remove the little rubber cap and calibrate zero using distilled water and a small flat blade screwdriver.
I went ahead and bought a digital combo meter that measures salinity, PH, temp, and TDS. That should save some time over this if it works as advertised. It was more than twice the money but hey, it's all in the name of science. I might even come back and let you know how it worked out.

HERMITTE R.: Ce produit est pas mal mais du tout adapté pour un suivi de piscine au sel. En effet la concentration nécessaire 4 à 5mg/l, est beaucoup trop basse pour l'échelle de lecture de cet appareil.
A réserver pour l'eau de mer ou autre saumure.

Dunbar Helsley Jr: How many times have I tested my aquarium's salinity levels only to get irregular readings from that plastic floating meter. Everytime I brought my water sample to the Fish Store to have them test my various levels, they always used this device. I thought that the simple investment of under $20 for a device to give me accurate readings was a no brainer. You don't need to be a scientist to use it either. AND your fish and corals will thank you!!

I was unable to use the set screw to calibrate when it arrived. What happened is that calibration knob has an inner screw which is loose and was in to deep to function.
You need to unscrew the knob screw and then carefully unscrew the inner screw a few mm otherwise
it will not be able to push in enough.
