Connect to the Internet with the Linksys USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter

Diana: I was using my Chromebook to take a dance class in my basement (where my dance floor is) but the video wasn't very good through Zoom because I was connecting with wireless. My Chromebook doesn't have an ethernet port so I decided to try this adapter. I was skeptical that it would work but all I had to do was connect one end of the adapter to my ethernet cable and plug the other end into my Chromebook USB port. It worked like a charm! No driver or software installation was required. And the video resolution is much improved!

Felix1968: Using this on my 2015 Macbook Pro 15" and the device worked perfectly out of the box, no driver download required (Running latest MacOS Big Sur). Plugged it into the USB 3 port, connected an Ethernet cable from my router and was connected in seconds. Speed is great and there's no lags or drops. One possible concern - this adapter does get pretty warm (actually hot) to the touch. Guessing it's designed to do this as other have mentioned, but I hope this doesn't shorten the lifespan.

AmazonShareholder: This product arrived as advertised on Amazon.

It worked great out-of-the-box for macOS High Sierra and Mojave beta (yes, I tested it on both) -- without the need to install any drivers.

The ethernet speed it offers is fast and stable. I compared its speed (using the online Ookla speed test) against my other ethernet connection that is not based on USB interface, and to my surprise, the speed for both upload and download on both connections are the same. The latency is also approximately the same (+- a few milliseconds).

So, yes, this product works well as advertised. The build quality is very good too.

I would recommend this product to anyone needing a USB-ethernet adapter.

Jorge Montaño: Soy un Ingeniero en Sistemas, aunque tengo un equipo con tarjeta de red, en ocasiones requiero estar conectado a mas de una red por cable UTP. Este pequeño dispositivo es muy practico. Este dispositivo esta mas orientado a aquellos equipos que no cuentan con el puerto RJ-45 pero si tienen varios puertos USB para sustituir la función, tambien es util por si se llega a dañar la tarjeta de red de la laptop o de la PC y no hay reemplazo o soporte. En mi caso funciono perfectamente y la velocidad de transferencia de que se logra supera la tasa de transmitir por red inalambrica.

Lo bueno:
- USB 3.0
- Es Linksys
- Muy buen diseño
- Puerto Gigabit Ethernet

No tiene nada malo, solo tomar en cuenta que:
- Los controladores no están en los sistemas operativos, no es Plug & Play, por lo que es importante tener los archivos a la mano para instalarlo en la computadora o en otras computadoras si es necesario.

Project Arjun: I must say, this is by far one of the best tech purchases I've made in a while. My 2013 Dell Inspiron 13z notebook came with a 100 mbps Ethernet NIC, and it was quite a shock that in the year 2013, computer manufacturers would continue to use 100 mbps network cards, and not gigabit. This USB Ethernet Adapter Gigabit USB 3.0 saved the day. I recently upgraded to Verizon's 150/150 FiOS Internet and now I get full download & upload speeds as provisioned. Also, my latency is on average 2ms. Thank you Linksys for making a quality product. Thank you Amazon for making this product available through your website. Thank you Verizon for being one of the best Internet Service Providers out there.

Did I forget to mention? This Ethernet Adapter is Plug-and-Play, and works on Windows 10 too!

I also purchased the Dual-Band AC1200 Wireless USB 3.0 Adapter (WUSB6300) [Quantity: 2] refurbished from Linksys for $20 a piece. I'm surprised there are many complaints over this device not working properly with Windows 10. All I had to do was Plug and Play, and I'm connected and getting my provisioned speeds, 150/150 (Upload and Download via Verizon FiOS). I'm not sure if many are...

SnugglesTheHusky: Works great with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. Download Windows 8.x driver before performing a clean install. Windows 10 Pro automatically installed correct driver even after a clean install. In a USB 2.0 port on my laptop, I get up to 260 Mbps throughput which is faster than the built in 100Mbit ethernet port on my four year old Dell i5 laptop and 966Mbps on my i7 Desktop with USB 3.0 ports. Either way it will improve your hardwired ethernet speeds, just be realistic about connecting it to a USB 2.0 ; don't expect gigabit speeds from this ethernet adapter because a USB 2.0 port can't deliver those kinds of speeds. It is also useful for adding an additional gigabit port to a newer computer and for at least the next ten years its future proof. Buy it now for a usb 2.0 computer and you can use it on a usb 3.0 port tomorrow.

Wanderer: I previously purchased the USB 2.0, 10/100 Mbps version of this unit (still branded 'Cisco' vs. Linksys at that time) and have been happy with it, but wanted to move up to Gigabit / 1000 Mbps and USB 3.0 since Gigabit network hardware is becoming as ubiquitous as USB 3.0 ports, and there's no reason to bottleneck.

Form factor on this unit is virtually identical to the prior USB 2.0 / 10/100 Mbps version, with the only exception being the USB connection and the fact that it says Linksys instead of Cisco on it. Obviously the cord is a bit thicker, but it's still flexible enough to tuck into tight places (think USB accessory bag). An improvement they've made on this version is that you have two separate cap pieces, one for the USB connector and one for the RJ45 receptacle. Previously it was a one-piece, L-shaped deal that just didn't work and was a pain to keep snug, and which bent the thinner USB 2.0 cable at an extreme angle. Now, on this USB 3.0 version, you just put one cap on the USB cable and one on the RJ45 port and the cable can still swing free, which is great. Stores much easier this way and is less hassle to deal with.
