Emilian: I replaced an apple Ethernet adapter with the Anker USB 3.0 to Ethernet Adapter. Worked from first time. Tested with two Dell laptops, one with windows 11 and the other with Ubuntu 20. I highly recommend. The cable seems to be of good quality. As a bonus, it runs a lot colder than the apple one !

Durch langes durch langes Suchen im Netz bin ich auf diese Empfehlung gestoßen und wurde nicht enttäuscht.
Endlich eine stabile Verbindung zum Router und somit kann ich ihn für diesen Einsatzbereich wärmstes Empfehlen.

bld522: I finally upgraded my Dell Inspiron 5558 i5 laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 only to realize that the internal LAN circuitry runs at 10/100. The download speed from my ISP is nearly 1 GB, so 100MB just wasn't going to cut it. I bought the Anker adapter on spec, hooked my ethernet cable to one end, plugged the other end into the USB 3.0 port on the laptop, ran a Speedtest and VOILA! I'm now running at full download speed on the laptop. Mission accomplished.

When it comes to these USB to ethernet adapters, it doesn't matter who makes the product; 90% of them all run the same chip. Specifically, the ASIS AX88179. I bought a different brand which had the base AX88179, and the darn thing had constant disconnects. Driver reinstalls and device manager settings changes did not fix it. Ultimately, I had to return it.

This adapter runs the AX88179A, which is a newer revision of the chip. I've not had any disconnect issues so far. I'll dock one star for price, but honestly, I'd gladly pay a premium for a product that actually works 100% of the time.

WillWill: I have an older macbook pro (mid-2012 13") that has multiple ports. One of which is the ethernet port. It's been my go-to since wifi connection has been spotty for me otherwise. Unfortunately, that port had become non-responsive over the years dealing with wear n tear.

I figured I'd get Apple's USB A ethernet adapter, only to learn that it had been discontinued just weeks prior?!

Fortunately, I was given great advice to try Anker - by an apple guy whom mentioned that he's used them with apple devices without a hitch.

I'll admit I was skeptical.

I couldn't see the ports clearly on the adapter and was just frustrated with having to look for an adapter. However, I was able to find this adapter and it checked the boxes, in addition to having a chord that looked very well constructed to handle contortions.
