John G.: I've had several 12 VDC Slime inflators over the years because I like the one year warranty. It's important to note the instructions say not to use it for more than 10 minutes and then let it cool for 25. I burned one out by ignoring this caution. These are not designed as heavy duty units. I use mine only in emergencies to reinflate a leaking tire. The inflators have saved me and others from many uncomfortable roadside spare tire changes over the decades. At home, I have a durable 110 VAC Ridgid air compressor that comes with a Lifetime Service Agreement.

DrumrPeteDrumrPete: Ross compact pump takes up about 1/2 the space of the original Slime that I keep on my Honda Africa Twin, this one is on my little Honda CRF300L, in a small Tusk side saddle bag. Bag holds the air pump, tire tools, 21” inner tube, and an 11” pc of 1-5/16” metal (chain link fence top rail) pipe, used as an extension for the Axle bolt tool. Tight fit!

I’ve used the pump 3 times so far, plugged into the bikes, and into my van as well. Tops off quickly.

You will lose a couple lbs when screwing the air hose on. Not a big deal… it’s better than the old way, struggling with the clamp down lever!

I’ve also learned to pump up a few lbs OVER what’s needed, then drop it down incrementally once hose is unscrewed. A couple lbs will leak out as you unscrew it. But again, the screw-in hose is an improvement.

KY866: This is a highly serviceable unit. Moreover, it truly is a perfect machine to maintain proper tire pressure on a regular basis. It is small and can be stored easily anywhere in a car. The price is right for the limited functionality of the product. It is basic and serves a really necessary purpose, maintenance. The manufacturer, Slime, has a strong reputation in this field, consequently, it should be expected that this unit will be durable and have a significant longevity. Gentle Reader: This is a great item to keep in your car. I've had one of a different brand for years and used it many times, between the car and the lawn tractor. I'll never be without one, so when that one finally stopped working, I immediately sought to replace it. I'll be honest -- I'm driven mostly by price, alongside good ratings. In looking for a new one, I also wanted to fix a couple of things I didn't like about the last one -- it was top heavy and bounced all over while operating, and was difficult to wrap up in a tidy way. This SLIME design solves both those issues completely - it's flat and stable on the ground while in use, and the cord and hose each have a compartment that they easily fold back into. Plus -- the pump is very effective, and has the analog readout that i prefer. Great item, glad I got it.
