Kindle Customer: I used an old hockey stick as a hiking staff for years, but with a trip out West coming up, I wanted something that I could pack in my suitcase. I like this pole because it's light, sturdy and cheap. I can't imagine what paying 2x-3x more for a collapsible staff will get you because this pole does all you need it to. For 22 bucks you can't go wrong.

Amazon Customer: Used the walking stick for support, had a injured heel . The stick was very adjustable and light.

Maria2702: This might be more expensive than some but if you hate walking/trekking sticks because they get in the way, this is really the one for you. It took me a couple of minutes to get the knack but now I just collapse it down and put it in my shopping bag. Sorted!

Lizzie: Excellent poles, better than my more expensive ones that I accidentally left at home when I went on a walking holiday (thanks goodness for amazon prime!) I broke my ankle last year & hurt my knee & need the support for hill walking & narrow difficult paths. Lightweight but strong & folds away small for when not needed. I'm certainly not light & it served me very well & think it will for many years.

Rebecca S. Haut: Okay, I read the reviews before purchasing for an upcoming trip to Spain. I decided to go ahead and buy it. When it arrived, I also tried for quite a while, reading and rereading instructions and watching a video. It looked simple. Finally after about 20 minutes, it worked. I found the way by accident. It is simple once you figure it out, but the instructions are not worth the paper they are written on. Once I had it locked, I broke it down and re did it several times, all with no problems, so I don't anticipate having difficulty from this point forward. It seems to be a sturdy stick. At this point, I would recommend it, keeping in mind the assembly can be difficult until you figure it out. I will update after using it.

Keen Reader: Remarkably decent quality for a low cost. I have used these 3 times on my daily walk (about 1.5 miles on gravel road and trail) and on a weekend hike with a 15 lb pack on a trail including stream crossings. The poles were a little more complicated to extend than my fancy Leki poles (those are clip only) but they worked well even in fairly deep spring meltoff conditions. I plan to use these on a hiking trip in Europe and wanted poles that would fit into a carry on bag. The poles are very lightweight and break down to the quoted length. Because they are lightweight, they may not be strong enough for a larger, heavier person but they worked for me -- I am 5'5", weigh 130 lbs and have a total hip replacement so will always need poles for hiking. I like the multiple tips--I am going to take them on the plane while extended with the tips on and remove the protective tips while hiking. The bags are a nice perk but not really necessary.
**(8/13/18)I wrote above last fall in 2017. Since then in addition to frequent use on dayhikes, I have backpacked for 3 days on steep rocky terrain, and I have used the poles on the West Highland Way in Scotland--about 115 miles of moderate walking and...

Lesley26: This is a good sturdy pole, however have been unable to use properly as unable to press the button in to fold it back up again. Tried WD40 to no avail.

D. NewmanD. Newman: I wasn't sure what to expect from these poles as they are very affordable and I was worried the low price would impact the quality. Having used other trekking poles in the past, I know what I want my poles to be able to do.

I must say I am very happy with the performance of these two poles, especially considering the price. I recommend to anybody that purchases them to read the directions in the Product details on the Amazon page to make sure you assemble correctly. It is easy to put them together and adjust, but it is always easier if you have directions on exactly what to do.

I ordered two poles, and after an afternoon hiking I can say these poles performed well. I love that they have a bag that they can easily fit into, which can then go into my backpack and not take up much space. The handle feels good in my hand, and the poles are very sturdy. The green band is an interesting color, but it doesn't bother me as I am looking for performance and not the best look, especially at this price point. They seem to do a good job of keeping pressure off of my knees and helped to stabilize me on tricky terrain.

Overall I think this is a great price and am glad I made...

Earl HammerEarl Hammer: I've been in the market for some good trekking poles for a while now. Since I live out in the woods, I figured this set by Outry would be perfect. Wow, they sure are perfect! These come in either a single set or two sets. I ordered the two so my son could have one too, as he likes to take little hikes through the woods. They each come in a separate bag with a draw string included so you can cinch the bag closed. Each one also comes with a rubber knob for the bottom if walking inside perhaps. They also come with a threaded plastic round piece that prevents them from going too far into the sand, or dirt.. They have an elastic string inside them like a fiberglass tent pole. They are super easy to put together. After putting them together all you need to do is pull up right around the silver band until a spring loaded knob (or button) pulls up and locks them in place. (It's even easier than how I just made it sound). They also adjust for length so it will fit you no matter how tall you are...
So, when I received my double set, and one of the poles was broken (the spring loaded button didn't work). I got right on the horn and contacted customer service and they sent another one out...
