Terri Milano: I did this plan when the book first came out. Honestly, the first week was awful - it was hard not to cheat (but I was determined) and I didn't feel great. By week two I felt a lot better and it was easier to follow the plan. By week three I was so glad to have done it. I ended up losing 20-25 pounds and felt a million times better!! I recently did the 3-week plan again as I hadn't been taking care of myself. This time I only felt like crap for one day! Again lost the weight I needed to, but most importantly I'm just feeling so much better. You don't realize how crappy you feel - until you feel GREAT. I highly recommend it!

IGM0937: I believe that health and well-being are complex subjects and that there are a million ways to treat someone. Because of this, there is never one way to treat everyone. Obviously it is why we have doctors and even they sometimes disagree on how something should be treated. That is primarily why I have never believed in health books, as I have always seen them as quick cash-ins for the author or publisher. If you can fix everybody’s problems in 300 pages of text, then why isn't everyone as fit as a fiddle?
I know it is a very cynical view, but the reason I mentioned it was simply because I was shocked at how well the booked had worked for me. I had hit a point in my life where I wanted to focus a bit more on my health and I knew that a simple diet x or y won't do the trick. I had to change my way of thinking about food, exercise, discipline and consider how this was all going to affect my everyday life and I believe this is where this book stands out.
I'll put my hands up and say that it didn't follow this book to an absolute tee. I do have to stress that the book aided me in creating a diet that worked for me. Instead of following the 3/5/7 day program, which I had...

Ellsbellss: Recommends a lot of additional supplements but don't bother - you can do it all yourself. Followed the plan in November having suffered numerous allergies (unknown causes) and exhaustion throughout 2015 - pretty much everything cleared up after I finished. It's not a wonder product, but the principles of stripping back what you put into your body to give it a rest make perfect sense and seem to have given me a chance to get back on an even keel. You can also download lots of recipes online to give you ideas (I struggled for the first few days), so do this rather than bothering to buy his other book with recipes (I didn't even use it). As with another reviewer, I didn't do 2 x liquid meals, just followed the same rules as for lunches in the evening. I had a nasty caffeine withdrawal on days 1-3 and felt really ropey and listless, but after that, I felt amazing and full of energy. I lost about 3kgs in weeks 1-2, which I was happy with, even though I hadn't done this for weight loss.
Overall, recommended (have lent my copy to a friend and bought another one for my Mum), but you'll only get out of it what you put in.

Scott W Rogers: This is the best book I have ever read. Excellent information about how your body works and how switching to natural foods and away from all the carbs and sugars we eat now can not only make you feel better and lose weight but fix a lot of out physical and mental problems. I have done a lot of experiments over the last 10 years and finally changed my diet just before I got this book and it was amazing to see that everything I learned on my own was also expressed in here, plus a whole lot more.
Personally, I did not do his clean program (yet, at least) but the changes I made to my diet were very similar to what Junger describes and I can tell you that the results were incredible. Within a week I felt MUCH better and started losing weight. It's now been 3.5 months and I am down 40lbs. Right up until the day I made the change I was saying "There is no way I can lose even a single pound!! I'd have to exercise 5 hours every single day!" but here I am losing weight continuously and I have done very little exercise. And I have a lot more energy and actually want to exercise (I still can't find the time)! And I'm not starving or very hungry at all. I don't really miss all those...

Mia Eisenstadt: 4 stars because its a very good program and I'm very glad that this book was all I needed in enable to be able to take the program. I'm also glad that CLEAN gives you options to take the program without buying supplements from the company, as well as the option to buy supplements so supports those who may not want to invest a lot of money buying supplements and shakes or for those who simple prefer to use fresh local produce and make their own smoothies and soups at home.
I did not assign it 5 stars because there were the following disappointments:
1) There is not much explanation of the science behind why
2) There are some items are remain ambiguous. For example, its unclear if you can eat sweet potato whilst you are on the clean diet.
3) There is not much support in terms of the emotional and physical sensations you might feel and why that is. For example, if you experience lots of headaches during the program why is that?
4) The narrative style of the book makes it difficult to look up information quickly. I would put tables of what you can and can't eat at the back so this can be quickly referenced, for example.
Regardless, I would recommend this...

Tamara Himmelstrand: Dr Junger guides you with a sure hand and lots of clear explanations through
the ideas and benefits with doing a detox. Previously I didn't believe in doing fasts so
dissmissed all thoughts of detox, but on this detox you eat 1 meal/day and can eat
between meals if you feel hungry. That deffinitively worked for me. I have just completed
3 weeks and am gently fasing into eating more normally. I gained huge insights into my relationship
to hunger. The first days I was in a total panic about the hunger that actually physically hurt, but
I stayed with the feelings, breathed and allowed myself to let all thoughts come up to the surface.
I have never felt so smooth and warm in my stomach as now. I can feel more of myself. As a homeschooling mother it's easier for me to stay focused on my needs and prioritize me. It makes it easier to
set limits kindly and firmly. The scientific approach made it
feel safe and grounded even though I might be feeling awful at times I knew that it was all part of
the cleansing process. Very exciting journey that seems to be unfolding infront of me. I understand
that this is just a beginning. I'm listening in and finding...

sharifred: I happened across this book & the Clean program purely by chance, but I'm so glad I did. I have been having nagging little health problems for years that I instinctively believe could be managed without medication if I just knew (and actually DID) the right things.I work as a physical therapist & see the results of poor lifestyle choices every day and I'm determined to manage my own health better. In his book, Dr Junger explained the background of his program very well and it made a lot of sense to me. I have felt for a long time that my diet may be part of the reason for some of my issues. The ideas in the book resonated with me, and I think the timing was perfect---I was just ready, finally, to make drastic changes. Fortunately, at the time I discovered the book, I also found out about a group "cleanse" that would be taking place with support being provided by Dr Junger's "Clean Team" via Facebook. I joined the group and had a successful cleanse, losing 8 pounds and feeling so much better! The program is not a weight loss program, but of course most of it hope to lose some weight and I was so happy that I did. I have been unable to drop even a pound in the last year or...

Maria Navas: I must say i am very happy and satisfied. I will summarize all my perceptions of the book and the cleanse:
1. The book has a lot of repetive content but also has good information about food/pollutant reactions in the body and body detox info which is worth reading. What i found a little dissapointing is that the Dr. didn't add any references of medical studies of the statements he explained about so the book will have more credibility and medical support behind. For this fact i did not put 5 stars. But i want to say also that the book is very open and does not force you to do anything... the more you can, the better, if not then the little you are doing is already good.
2. I am a regular sugar/wheat/dairy products consumer but i am also fit, healthy, do sports often and eat good foods as well. Me and my husband always wanted to do a detox diet but we was afraid of doing something dangerous. We felt this one "fit our bill" and tried to do it. Funny thing: from all the food to include in this clease program, i knew only 50% of them and i was afraid i couldn't find those i knew.
3. I was surprised to find that in naturist/health stores they sell most of the foods...

Mortensen: This is a fantastic book! He’s absolutely right and all
of his medical and nutritional advice. I’m doing the 21 day cleanse. I’m 2 weeks in I’ve lost no weight but my pain levels are way better! I still have bloating but I think I may have secondary issues. My swelling is much better and I went from a 7 to a 2 on the pain scale. I wish everyone I know would read this book!! My only complaint and it’s a major complaint, is I can’t stand the yoga parts. Yoga goes very much against my own beliefs. It’s a religion and has no place in a medical book. He should really consider making a revised version and leaving all that out completely. That alone makes me hesitant to recommend this book. Dr Junger please consider your audience comes from all different backgrounds and there are other ways besides promoting your faith to encourage mental health stability and meditation.
