If you’re trying to learn the basic fundamentals of astrology with well-explained examples, this is the book for you! This is a textbook, so be prepared to read.

Amazon Customer: Chris Brennen is one of many people in a unique position in the astrological world in today's times. I bought this book after listening to the Astrology Podcast for months and listening to his insightful way of explaining astronomical events. I say he is in a unique position because he is one of our new modern day teachers.

Much like the Astrology Podcast Brennen takes the approach of the pupil not understanding anything of astrology so he seeks to teach from a tangible beginning point. He breaks down many ancient teachings into a more palatable form. Rather than drawing his own conclusions the tone is from an informative narrative point of view. A student sharing his lessons that helped him to become capable of being a teacher. Considering that fact that Astrology unfortunately is not accredited by any teaching institution, I find his knowledge and dedication to telling the wholest truth he was capable of finding and subsequently sharing awe inspiring.

Personally, I believe this to be a sort of Astrological dictonary. Brennen has masterfully and meticulously cited his sources, foot noted and annotated all of the text. There is even an index for specific words and...

Kindle Customer: I bought this book to better understand Hellenistic astrology techniques. This book is huge and intimidating. I recommend reading it once you have a good understanding of astrology and are proficient at reading charts or you will be lost.

There are quite a few techniques in the book that I have found helpful in chart analysis. The author uses both examples he has pulled from ancient texts as well as his own experiences to teach and showcase the usefulness of the techniques.

You won't see a whole lot of psychological astrology in this book. By that I mean there is not a lot of emphasis on what the signs mean or how planets act in each of the signs. There is much more emphasis on sign dignity and house placement, which highlights whether the planets will act positively or negatively and what areas of life they will effect. That being said, you can certainly combine these techniques with psychological astrology techniques to gain a deeper understanding of the chart and its implications.
