Bikenraider99: I bought this as a reference manual on a resto-modification of a truck I've inherited. This is a good basic overview of one of America's most produced and popular vehicles. This manual is nothing short of a bible when it comes to F-150's. Like all chilton manual's, the book is divided into chapter sections that cover specific vehicle systems. it covers a variety of set ups (straight 6, V8's, 2WD, 4WD). Some things are better explained than the others, but on the whole, this is an excellent book to work on your vehicle with. Pictures help with showing the reader and technician the parts and procedures in question. Again some things are better than others. On the whole I would recommend this book

dantron: I bought this book specifically to set the timing on a 5.8 liter engine. There was only a generic picture of the timing marks and pointer plate on some engine. Mine is completely different. No degree marks, no plate, and has a bracket with a metal grommet right above the balancer. I needed a description of what needs to be done to time the 5.8. Otherwise, the book looks reasonably comprehensive. At least it's better than the shop manuals that are totally geared to using diagnostic test equipment. They're useless for the home mechanic.
