Maria G.: They're pretty sturdy for being plastic and tighten really well. The only con is also a pro depending on your fabric preference. I used it for both cross stitch and embroidery. The aida cloth is pretty hard to set up and tighten BUT it will stay in place really well, which means it will also secure the embroidery fabrics nicely.
My fingers are a bit sore form the screws though lol

M. Polk: I love embroidery hoops, but these ones took some getting used to. I found that putting the top hoop on loosely and then working on tightening the fabric once it was on works best. I'm cross stitching on Aida and have had no issues with the thickness of even completed areas.

Tiffney: These hoops come in several sizes which is handy. Good value for the money. It is harder to get the hoop in place when doing needlepoint than I expected. The way the hoop is designed it is just harder to get the outer hoop onto the inner hoop. Once you do get everything in place, the hoops work well.

MBeau58: I recently decided to pick up cross stitching as a hobby again. I couldn't find my embroidery hoop, so I ordered a set of bamboo hoops from Amazon. They were awful! They didn't hold the fabric tight, would pop off because they really weren't wide enough, sometimes the embroidery floss would catch on the bamboo, and a couple of them were more oval than round. The screws had a butterfly style that meant the 2 ends stuck out & caught the floss. If I wanted to simply display my finished project, the bamboo hoops might have worked. But, they were useless to actually use while working on a project. I ended up returning them and began looking for something better. I settled upon this set of hoops and couldn't be happier with them. One of them had a rough spot on it that looked like excess plastic left after it was molded. I simply took an emery board & filed it gently. You can't see or feel where the slight defect was. The hoops are perfectly round & solidly made. The screws don't stick out and are easy to turn. The colors are very pretty & you could use the hoops to display your project if you wanted to. They'd be kind of cute framing artwork in a child's room or a craft...

Kindle Customer: Did not purchase this item for embroidery, but for gardening, so I cannot say how they are for what they were originally produced. For gardening, I wanted to mark areas in my garden to know where a plant would grow again come spring. That way, if I had started to weed early, I would not mistake a plant for a weed and accidently pull out the wrong item.
