I'll be honest, when I first picked up thus book I thought it was going to be slightly boring but possibly a good story. I was wrong. Its an incredible story and I fell in love with the 3 main characters so fast my head almost spun. I will truly keep this story in my head for awhile and I'm so grateful I gave it a try.

Whenever, I've picked another Catherine Ryan Hyde book, I know I'm in for an emotional ride, but I had no idea how hard this one would touch me. The title Seven Perfect Things refers to a litter of puppies, which are thrown off a bridge in a sack to drown in the swiftly moving waters of the river below. Fortunately our young heroine Abby, only thirteen, is a strong member of her high school swimming team, and dives into the river, chasing the sack through the current until she is able to grab the bag and save the seven tiny puppies. Once they clear their lungs, they imprint on Abby and she is their mother as far as they are concerned. Right then and there you know you are reading a story that will make you cry.
In spite of a terrible father at home, and a life without many material things, she has a mother she loves, and who eventually will do everything in her power to keep her daughter safe.
