Wade HaponskiWade Haponski: Great stability once you adjust the 2 locking tensioner properly. Plenty of attachments and I'm still impressed with the larger rub er foot attachment for added stability and traction. Recently had surgery and bought this as an alternative to a cane. It'll still be of service for me after I'm healed for walking/hiking and taking pictures using it as a monopod for both my phone and camera via the handy threaded mounting point. Ben: I bought this to serve as a host for an Arrow II yagi antenna as the carbon fiber doesn’t react with the antenna. The screw mount was a little long so I ground it down to fit a bit better. Function and quality control are very good and it performs as advertised. There is a small steel sleeve in the rubber tips so the tungsten bit on the bottom doesn’t chew through the rubber. The little accessories work as advertised and the tightness is very simple and easy to adjust.

To Protect the Innocent: I shopped for a pair of hiking poles for a 7 day backpack. The primary requirement was that it has a tripod mount, and I also wanted something fairly light. I hesitated about this kit from Cascade Mountain, because it's not a well-known brand, and seems like a chinese no-name brand. Can I trust it?

Although it's not at the same level as a set from Black Diamond and the like, this is a solid choice. First, the 8.6oz (244g) weight is accurate. This carbon pole is pretty light, but not ultra light. The pole is sturdy. The length adjustment is very secure, holds my weight and won't slip.

The cork grip is not as ergonomic as some designs, but is comfortable enough and works ok. Cork will probably absorb a bit of water, adding weight, and a synthetic grip would be lighter and better, but i think cork will be durable.

The wrist strap is an adjustable buckle, which is not as seamless as no-buckle designs that use friction to hold the strap loop, but it's actually pretty good. the buckle doesn't get in the way, and the stap has a soft fabric on the inside which is great for your bare hand and wrist.
