My name's not Phil: I have used the Capresso 565.05 coffee grinder for more than 7 months and I am impressed. It produces a consistent grind every time whether set for coarse, medium or fine grinds. It is quieter than most appliances, but it does have a couple of non-fatal issues/concerns. I didn't give the Capresso five stars because of those concerns, but for the price it's a great value.

I have been drinking coffee for many years and used it to wake me up in the morning and provide a pick-me-up in the afternoon. It was mostly the chemicals I was after and not so much the taste. When I retired, I took a longer time to drink coffee and discovered that I really didn't like the coffee I was making. I had to do better. Long story short: I kept improving each step of the coffee making system to get a better tasting cup.

Freshly ground coffee is very important.

I knew that I needed to get a conical burr grinder to get there, but after reading a lot of reviews on the nets, wow! The good ones cost a lot of money . . . a lot. The less expensive ones were consistent only with the finer grinds. The reviews on Amazon were across the board with too many grinders having a high percentage of...

Connorj: I bought this grinder to replace an inexpensive blade grinder. I have developed an addiction to French Press coffee and wanted a better grinder. I have a Capresso coffee maker that I purchased recently, which I absolutely LOVE: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064ONLW0/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I am so happy with this coffee maker that I was hoping to find a Capresso grinder that would fit the bill. This one does.

What I like: it's reasonably quiet, for a machine that grinds up stuff. My blade grinder can be heard from the far reaches of deep space. My mini-food processor is noisier. Don't know how this compares to high end grinders, but I am quiet happy this grinder does not sound like a jet engine. It has plenty of grind settings to meet my needs. But I am not trying to do Turkish grinds or even expresso grinds. I do basic auto-drip grind and a coarse grind for French Press.

The timer. The existence of the timer baffles me a little. I would have been perfectly content with a simple on/off switch, or a pulse switch. I suppose if I was the type that had to know how long to turn a machine on to grind X amount of coffee at a specific coarseness to...
