R.H. McCort: Its St. Patrick’s Day and Callahan’s former partner Bucky wants Callahan to go to a Shamrock Society event. While Callahan really would love staying home, she goes with Bucky but the night turns terrible when Bucky is shot in the head. Callahan cannot leave things to others while she starts searching things turn up that are so unexpected. Meanwhile, Callahan and her guy are working on what direction their relationship will go, move, or stay in Atlanta. This is a great series and reading about The House Mouse employees.

Hillsider: A little over the top with bad cops. I liked Callahan Garrity dogged approach to discovering who did it! The mystery unfolded bit by bit.

Cynthia K. Robertson: Mary Kay Andrews is one of my favorite writers for when I’m looking for something light, fun, and with a Southern-twist. Little did I know that she also has a mystery series written under her real name, Kathy Hogan Trocheck. I read Irish Eyes which is the 8th novel in her Callahan Garrity series and is now being marketed under her pen name. Again, this book delivers what I have come to expect from Andrews, but it also has a serious side, as well.
Callahan Garrity is an Atlanta native and former cop who lives with her mother. While not running a cleaning agency with her mom called The House Mouse, she moonlights as a private investigator. The novel opens on St. Patrick’s Day and her former partner, Bucky Deavers, asks Garrity to accompany him to a St. Patty’s Day party. He wants to introduce her to his fiancée. The host of the event, The Shamrock Society is made up of Irish-American cops. When the fiancée doesn’t show and Deavers becomes too drunk, Garrity insists that Deavers drive her home. But on a pit-stop at a local liquor store, Deavers stumbles upon a robbery and ends up being shot twice. While things are not looking good for her former partner, Garrity...

Teeker: Callahan Garrity is an ex-cop who has opened a cleaning business, The House Mouse with her mother. She has found a great guy but they have kept their lives parallel rather than joining together their households. When her good friend and former partner, Bucky shows up on St. Patrick's Day Callahan is bullied into going to a big shindig with him put on by the newly formed Shamrock Society a fraternity of Irish police officers. When Bucky ends up shot in the head that evening, Callahan feels that something is not quite right so she begins her own investigation into the matter.
I have read many of Mary Kay Andrew's books but I was not aware of her Callahan Garrity mystery series. The characters drew you into the story and she was able to keep you guessing about what really did happen that evening. I would certainly read another book in the series.

Susan H. Murphree: I love all Mary K Andrews books but not her earlier ones written as Trocheck. They are ok but not on par with the ones she writes now
