Amazon Customer S. R. Dollison: This Nigerian comedian shares life through the lens of what she has experienced. She’s funny, authentic, and this is her truth. Much more success to her future career.

Carol Clarke: I was prepared for the usual 'book' from a comedian: 3 cogent thoughts expanded in large print to fill up pages so it could be called a book and charged as such. This is an actual memoire, beautifully and intelligently written, filled with important historical data and life-changing (for me) information, as well as being genuinely funny and wonderfully clever. Big respect for Ms Yashere, I'm in greater awe now than I was before. She sets the bar high.

Meldabird: This book was unbelievable. If I could give it more than five stars I would. I knew I was going to enjoy it, but not this much.

I remember Gina back in the mid-90's from the TV, and she always stood out for me as number 1, she was the only Black female comedian I saw and 2, she talked about her Nigerian upbringing which is very similar to other African countries. I could relate to this, as a child of an African immigrant parent. The cultures are more-or-less the same.

Gina was brilliant back then as she is now and always stood out, and most importantly, she was FUNN-AYYY. It was no surprise to me she immigrated to the States and found success there. In the UK there are people who work in the entertainment business who are so below par, you have to look twice at the TV screen to just wonder how on earth are they still working and keep being endorsed. The nepotism over here in the UK is real and sickening, if it's not an automatic free pass from Oxbridge then it's a parent who knows someone. Hard grafting is very rare nowadays in the case of success. I understood Gina's frustrations completely as there are far too many British comedians who are just simply not funny,...

Kerry: This is the best book I’ve read in a long time. Gina’s memoir was hilarious, inspiring, and educational. It was raw, honest, and insightful, and if you’ve ever watched Gina’s stand up, you’ll have a much better understanding and appreciation of the unique circumstances that created her comedic genius.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Gina, but to learn of just how much she had to overcome in order to be the success she is today, made me appreciate her that much more. She’s a gifted story teller and an amazing writer. I literally could not put the book down until I finished it, and now that I’m done reading it, I can’t stop talking about it to anyone who will listen.

I’m absolutely gobsmacked by this woman’s talent and I’m so grateful she shared her story with the world. It’s obvious that she’s really special and when I learned about her connection with her granny (no spoilers), it cemented what I already knew to be true: Gina Yashere is a force to be reckoned with. This book has inspired me and I’m sure it will inspire countless others. I hope this is her first book of many.

Also, thanks to this book I know what “cackhanded”...
