Jill T.: We purchased this based on previous good reviews for our chocolate lab to keep him contained in the yard. it was used approx. 3 times per day. After 5 weeks of average use, the clasp end with the spring let go. Whatever is crimping the wire inside isn't good enough. Our dog got free but thankfully didn't go far.

G W R: It is doing the job for our little puppy. It does kink but is easy to untangle. If left out in the rain it does rust at the attachments. Plastic cover is holding up after a solid month of use.

Mandy Paine: Really needed this for adopted runaway escape artist, it does tangle but not too bad. Farida can eat a bone on the lawn in comfort and still come back into the house when she is ready.
Farida is a 50lb GSD Mix so very strong in strength and running impulse. Love our Tie out and as she can come back into the house when she is ready it does not bother her to be tied up

Holly Hamilton: We bought this for our husky so we n bring her to my parents house whose backyard is not fenced in. I also take riding lessons and this is perfect for setting her up outside the riding ring under a tree.
What we ended up using it for is EVERYTHING. Do you know how much huskies LOVE running?
We also have a 32 foot recall line for when we go to the park. This connects seamlessly to it to give her 72 feet of running room while we work on her impulse control. This was one of the best purchases I’ve made for my dog.

MG: purchased two of these after moving to a new house without a fence. used on a 50lb and 75lb dog with little issue. they did tangle rather easily, but that’s to be expected with this type of product. the sun also faded the red color over time, but that did not seem to affect the strength.
i attached these to my dog’s collars that closed with plastic buckles. at first, they both got loose quickly because the plastic buckles on the collars snapped as they were trying to chase a stray cat. i upgraded the collars to ones with metal buckles and no longer had this issue.
eventually, one of the lines snapped because it got tangled and knotted and the red plastic had fallen off of one section from the knotting. the knot left a weak point in the metal line and after bending over time it broke with a hard pull from my 50lb dog. this was almost a year into owning the line, and i felt like i got my money’s worth the first time, as the price is very reasonable, so i ordered a third as a replacement.
overall very happy with the value.

Martin: This cable is very sturdy and certainly fulfills its promise. It is very thin, but strong enough to hold my 60lbs dog going full speed. At 40' it is pretty long, and can get in the way. You also have to make sure that it doesn't get wrapped around your legs as that can be very painful. I have held the line in my hands and my dog pulled away, making it slide through my fingers, this has caused burns on my fingers, so be careful! It is not meant to be used as a leash, instead just tying it to a stationary spot. This line is a great purchase, but it would certainly be nice to have multiple lengths on hand and use one that fits the occasion. It is light enough that I could take it camping with my and my dog. I have used this line only twice, once for camping and once at my friend's barbecue party. Both times it has been very usefull and has done its job well. Even the spring hasn't broken yet. I would definitely buy this again.

Joyce K.: I have a Carolina Dog, and they are not good on recall, so she cannot be in an unfenced area without a leash of some sort. I can use this to let her out to go potty, and/or enjoy the sunshine and neighbors, without worrying about her running off if I can't take her out on a leash; like late at night, or early a.m. before I get dressed. The only problem is that they need to be replaced about every 4-6 months, as they wear out and then the cord snaps. She is only about 34 lbs., but she is strong and will lunge when she sees prey, like a deer. It holds her well, until it wears out. I always have a second one in reserve, so that when I see the plastic begin to split, I know it's time to change it out, and order another one. I learned this the hard way; once she broke free, and once she was walking alongside me, with the clip and a short section hanging off, so I was able to just reach down and hold her until I could attach the new tie. I attach one end to an eye-bolt screwed into a stump, and when she comes back into the house I detach her whole collar and leave it on the floor by the door with the tie out still attached, so the tie-out is mostly outdoors all the time. If you don't...

Byky: This has been (literally) a life saver for our 55lb German Shepherd Mix.
Our Escape Artist (EA) is good at his job.
We have a chain link fence and over the past 8 years we have buried cinder blocks, poured cement, attached poles along the base of the fence to tie the fence to, bought locks for all the gates, purchased an electric fence to enforce the fence boundaries, spent hundreds of hours training, all to no avail.
With 50mph roads, coyote packs attacking neighborhood dogs, pet parents who let their dogs run loose... trying to keep EA in the yard is more than just to avoid him 'getting lost'. It's to avoid him getting killed.
This tie out has done the trick. Since we bought it on August 3rd 2012 (3 weeks ago) we only had EA go 'for a run' 3 times. The first was the day we got it, I was hanging out with him while he got used to it, went inside for a drink, and came back to a broken dog collar. So we switched to a harness.
I recommend a product like this: Rogz Reflective Snake Medium Dog Step-in Harness, Lime We actually have a top-paw version of this but I couldn't find it. Anyway, this has two metal tabs, both of which fit into the...

Chris N: This is the second one of these I have bought. The first one lasted 2 years in the PA weather (cold snowy winters and hot humid summers) being outside the entire time, with a very shall we say energetic dog pulling on it. I was very surprised it lasyed as long as it did. I have been very pleased with this product, and would recommend it.
