Patricia Foster: I found this extremely well written book by Bob Woodward and Robert Acosta incredibly hard to put down. Such talent!
I was enthralled by the details of all within the inner circles of Biden and Trump.
Shows how to get the best possible solutions to complex scenarios you need to be willing to ask, and, then listen!

Terence D. Inch: I expected a well written book from Bob Woodward and Robert Costa and so it is. Lots of analysis and insider information. A very good if very disturbing read. It amounts to a warning that some people should never become President and certainly not again.

classicalsteveclassicalsteve: The three villains of this story are certainly Donald Trump and his two "election fraud allies" Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell. But interestingly two important heroes (certainly not the only ones) are Mike Pence and Ivanka Trump who may have saved our Democratic-Republic.

The most shocking aspect of this book is when then President Donald Trump and former NY governor Rudy Giuliani decided the election should be overturned and proposed slates of alternative electors should be brought in from swing states Trump lost. All this was done in secret. Interestingly, according to the theory, there was no election fraud in swing states where Trump in which many pollsters had predicted Joe Biden would win, such as Florida and Ohio. Trump was certainly stunned when his 74 million votes couldn't give him a second term, mainly because Biden had won a whopping 81 million. But Trump decided in his own mind that millions of Biden's votes "didn't count" because of fraud, and his legions of fans believed him.

The authors of "Peril" interviewed dozens of people in the Republican Party, many of whom worked for the Trump White House. They make a pretty good case that Trump sealed his...

Philip M: Woodward has created another extraordinary insight into the life of the US presidency under Trump and following his election defeat. Once again, he records extracts from genuine memos, Senate reports, meetings, interviews and conversations with the most senior people in federal and state governments and the US military. “Peril” is the story of a truly frightening and scary period in modern history and will probably be studied by historians for many years to come.

He, with Costa, weaves this remarkably thorough research together, to lead the reader through some of the most dangerous and uncertain times in recent American history. The result is the best blow-by-blow description of the events of the storming of the Capital that I have read. It includes eye-witness accounts of Trump’s behaviour and attitude whilst watching the storming from the Oval Office balcony and on television. Interviews with Senators, their staff and the police show in terrifying detail just how frightening this was.

Woodward explains in intricate detail why General Milley and all the Chiefs of Staff of the military became so concerned about Trump’s increasingly unstable behaviour. They...

SARAH: More than 200 people have been interviewed for this book by Bob Woodward
and Robert Costa. "The book is supplemented by more than 6,000 pages of
secret orders, transcripts of confidential calls, diaries, emails, meeting notes
and other personal and government records, as if it were "one history.

What's more, the best-selling author's ability to complete his 72-chapter
contribution with a short, "a spellbinding and definitive portrait of a nation on
the brink" is evident.

However, if I, as a reader, were to say where the main axis of the book lies, I
would say that Lindsey Graham's words in Chapter 69 say it all. He states, "I
don't like Trump, but I don't respect Biden," and I assume he is a supporter of
the Democratic Party(RINO; Republican in name only).

That said, the essence of what can be seen in the undertone is that the outrage
directed at both Biden and Trump following the final decision to withdraw U.S.
troops from Afghanistan is the united anger of the American people.

Graham has been to Afghanistan more than 20 times in the past 20 years and
knows more about the conflict than anyone in Congress or in the...

Elisa 20: I like the Woodward trilogy titles: “FEAR” was a reminder of what Donald Trump thought was important in order to get power. “RAGE” came from Trump’s proud observation of the emotion he could create in others.

And “PERIL” shows how the chaos, anger and fear came together in the final year of Trump’s presidency, placing the presidency and even democracy in danger. “Peril” begins with America in danger from Trump. It ends the same way. Trump hasn’t gone and neither is the threat he poses to democracy.

Woodward is working with Washington Post’s Robert Costa, but the style of research and writing is the same. It’s a lot of interviews –over 200—and a lot of work putting them together in a way that will hold interest. Sometimes they succeed in this and create real scenes—other times, you see the problem of having so much detail that you just –have- to include it. Storytelling sometimes takes a back seat to recounting details that aren’t always that significant.

That’s one problem. A bigger one is that Woodward has always been kind to people who are his sources. Typically, they are some of the most complicit people, but are...
